Top Customer Reviews	Good solution for streaming music in the car By Steve-O on September 5, 2012 Verified Purchase I was looking at a product to allow me to stream music in my car but keep the car's functionality for phone calls via bluetooth. I needed a receiver with a 3.5mm output that could be used with the stock radio input. I found a few products (some much more expensive or no longer made) but wasn't sure any would work for this specific need. Many reviews I read said you could be connected via bluetooth to either the car or the receiver, but not both at the same time - meaning if I got a phone call while driving I would need to either use the speakerphone, or disconnect from one device and switch to the car's bluetooth system. Not exactly hands free or convenient. Even if it did work, I was hesitant because many reviewers noted problems with the batteries in the units not lasting long or that they didn't work while charging. I took a leap of faith for $30 and bought the Go Groove. It is a very small device and does not feel very durable. I am not too worried as it won't be moving often, but the thinness of the wire between the device and the 3.5 mm output has me concerned - I am worried it would pull off without much force. I will try to reinforce it somehow without looking ridiculous (some reviewers have suggested heat shrink tubing). If you plan to use this daily with a pair of headphones or earbuds, I would be concerned about the wear and tear of everyday use. As far as functionality, it has one button, one small light and one input for charging. You press and/or hold the button to initially turn it on or pair it with a new device. Once on, it should pair automatically with a known device. When I get in the car, I just need to press the button for a few seconds and it is on and working instantly. The quality of the music seems to be equivalent to the sound using 3.5 mm cable as before and the Logitech receiver I use with my home stereo - so good enough for me. Audiophiles wouldn't use bluetooth for music anyway right? Also, most importantly for my specific situation, it DOES pair with my phone and the car at the same time (see screen shot in user images above). Phone calls are seamless, music is interrupted by a ring or me placing a call via the car's bluetooth, and when I hang up, the music comes back. Really cool. It does not randomly disconnect or cut in and out. For what it's worth, I am using a galaxy note. Your mileage may vary. Battery life has been a non-issue in the first 2 weeks. I drove a little over a thousand miles and only recharged once at home, and even then it was working fine but I didn't want to run out while on the road. I can't comment if it works while charging from the cigarette lighter as I have not tried yet. I will update my review when I do. I can say the charger being proprietary is a worry as well(the end that plugs into the unit is a small circle - not mini or micro usb), if you lose that wire, good luck finding a replacement. All in all it is a great deal for the price if you want to add bluetooth music streaming capability in your car, even more so if you already have factory bluetooth for phone calls and don't want to choose between one or the other. I would have given it 5 stars if it felt a little more durable, the wire was thicker and the charger was a standard size. edit 9-30-12 I have had the chance to try it and the unit does indeed work while charging in the car. No worries there. It has developed an issue with the sound popping and hissing, but I think it is related to my phone and not the unit. For a year I've been "hacking" my way through getting music to multiple rooms from an Android device I keep in the kitchen. I purchased two separate BT transmitters and put them on a Y-Cable but there was a problem with them being out of sync. I dealt with it. Moving from one room to another felt as if you were going through a time shift. Then I found another dual BT Tx and tried that one. I could NEVER get it to pair with more than one of my speakers. Then... I found the Trond. I decided it was worth one more try and... it was worth it. I followed the instructions and paired the first speaker, an iHome BT. Within 20 seconds it was paired and working. Then it was time for the JBL. The JBL speaker has caused two other brands of transmitters to freeze solid while trying to pair. I followed the instructions, turned on the JBL and then the Trond. No pair. I feared the worst. So, I tried it once more and bingo! Success. I powered on both speakers, then the Trond. Music to my ears! Both speakers were playing music and they were in perfect sync. Even though all of these will be always on, I decided to see how reconnecting after power down would go. Everything Off -> Speakers On ->Trond On -> 12 seconds and it reconnected to both speakers! Now I have it hooked to our Echo Dot and we can hear it in two rooms. I used a Y cable to feed the Trond and a local powered speaker. To NO fault of the Trond there is a slight delay (which is expected) going to the BT speakers of what must be milliseconds. Again this is a limitation of a local signal vs. transmitting a signal. I'm ordering another Trond to put on the Y-Cable to feed two more speakers and will update my status when I get it. I'm expecting there MIGHT be a small sync issue between the Txs but since the other speakers will be far enough away it should have minimal impact. Here's my current setup: 2amp Micro USB charger to twin micro USB splitters to power the Dot,the Trond and the iHome which sits nicely under the Dot. Good solution for streaming music in the car

Exactly what I was looking for - Works great

The headphone jack on my Samsung Galaxy SIII is a little flaky sometimes (but that's another review)... Anyway, it's more convenient to use Bluetooth, but my car doesn't have bluetooth built in. It does have an auxilary audio input though, so I've been connecting my phone or iPod through a cable to the headphone jack. But there's wires everywhere which is a little unsafe, and wireless is better if it works.

The Gogroove BlueTooth adapter was the solution I was looking for and at a great price.

PROS: It works, it was easy to pair with my phone, sound quality is very good (though I'm not an audiophile, so I'm not looking for true hi-fi. I just listen for clarity and no distortion. This sounds good to me. It's certainly good enough for podcasts and listening to music) Battery life seems to be very good also. I don't have to charge it very often, and if I don't use it for several days, it is still charged when I pick it up to use it. As part of the battery life, I think that it powers down or conserves power if not connected to a device. When I leave my car, I never remember to turn it off, but it's always sleeping when I come back. I think this is a feature, not a bug.

CONS: Very few, and minor, but still noteworthy. You CAN get some significant distortion from this if you have your phone's volume turned up too high. I keep my phone at about 90% volume, and it sounds perfectly clear. The signal still perfectly loud enough for my car stereo to manage the volume. I just mention it, because it was an issue for me for like 5 minutes until I turned my phone down a little.

Range - pretty short range. In the car, it's never a problem, so it's minor. The Blue Tooth standard is supposed to be 35ft I believe. The connection starts to get poor around 10 feet or so, and it drops much further than that. Sometimes, when I'm charging my phone, I put the Gogroove in my pocket and connect it to headphones. If I get up and walk away from my desk, it drops off. Again, this is minor, but worth noting.

Connectivity - I still haven't quite figured out if this thing goes to sleep or powers off when you leave it idle and all that. Sometimes I come back to it, and hold the connect button, and it seems that I'm actually shutting it off, sometimes it comes right on and connects. It's really only a problem because my aux port in my car is in the center console under a removable tray, so usually, I'm reaching blind into the center console. That's not really the Gogroove's problem, but it is frustrating for about 30 seconds almost every time I get into my car.

SUMMARY: For $30, I definitely recommend this device for anyone that wants to upgrade their car to have bluetooth stereo connectivity. It doubles as a nice way to use your headphones when it is helpful to separate the wires of the headphones from the phone itself. Keep your phone volume at about 90% or below, and rock on.

Very small, light, and works well - just does not auto-power-on

I bought this for my car many months ago and have enjoyed it greatly. While the battery life is reasonably good (I usually only charge it on the weekends) I was working on getting a USB power outlet up into the glovebox (which is where the AUX jack for the car lives).

However, after some testing, it is somewhat annoying that supplying power to the device does not turn it on. In fact, if it is already on, providing power turns it off! While it may make sense for this to be the default behavior in some usage conditions, I would expect that this is absolutely the wrong behavior, especially in the car but also for in-home use.

In the car, it is easy to have power supplied when the car is turned on. This is also the perfect time to have the device turn on. But yet that is not what it does. Thus, even with a nice hidden mounting in the glove box, you end up reaching over, opening the glove box, pushing the power button - all after you started the car since if you do it before you start the car it will turn off again.

For home use (not mobile use) the behavior is also not great as I could have the USB power supplied from an adapter that turns on with the stereo. Again, this does not help with the fact that you need to press the button so you must have this device physically accessible just for that.

So, the price was reasonable (it is even cheaper now) and it plays music as well as BlueTooth audio does. I love how small and light it is which makes it easy to mount nicely and out of the way. Unfortunately you still have to push the button but it does mean I have no ugly wires visible and I don't physically have to connect my phone to the car. If they could fix the power-on behavior this would easily be 5+ stars.
