The size: 5/5. The GOgroove is a good size. It's not too small OR too big, and the connecting bendy thing in the middle does bend, so it can take an array of shapes. For example, my cigarette lighter is in a very awkward place in my car, but bending the GOgroove a bit to the side made it fit very well. Also, with the size, the buttons are nice and large enough to be easily pressed without your hand slipping and pressing another. Which leads me to it's design!
The design: 5/5. As you can see, the GOgroove is incredibly simple. There are 7 buttons in all: the phone call accept button, the end call button, previous song button, next song button, seek channel button, and the on/off button. That's it, and that's all you'll need! The interface is awesome, as I said before, it's designed in a really good way so that you can easily press buttons without hitting the wrong thing, and it's also safe to drive and push the buttons because you will develop your spatial memory pretty quick! And it's simple, back button goes to previous song, forward button goes to next song, and the top button pauses/plays. Also, whatever FM station you have the transmitter set to will display in red on the GOgroove, in case you forget to save your channel or something.
Sound quality: 2/5. Now here's where it gets tricky, and a bit disappointing. You gotta realize that an FM transmitter is just that, an FM transmitter; if you have a shoddy connection then that's what you'll have: shoddy music. Unfortunately for me, I did have a shoddy connection, no matter which station I found. Granted, I did have plenty dead stations that worked good, but that's all it was, GOOD, not well or amazing. The FM transmitter took care of commercials (I hate them! So when they came on I'd just play my music to avoid commercials) but it doesn't do much for sound, in fact, there were many songs that I had to skip because the quality was just so terrible for songs with a lot of bass. Rather this is the same for everyone, I have no idea. But for my connection, at least, it was pretty bad--some songs played very well but ones with bass sounded so awful that I'd just skip them, dead station or not.
Durability: 5/5. As stated above, I'd had this thing for nearly a year and it works like the day it arrived in the mail! No matter how cold it gets, or how hot it gets, the thing is still working. And it's very strong too; that skinny cord thing in the middle is stronger than you'd believe! It will definitely hold whatever wonky shape you put it in. Also, the Bluetooth connects automatically with whatever music thing you synched it with. I'd say 9/10 times it would connect as it should, but once in a while you will have to turn it on and off for it to connect. Not that big a deal though, it starts up fast, so in seconds it will be on and off again and will connect.
Accessories: 5/5. I will say that this is a simple device and it actually doesn't come with many accouchements, but I believe there is a built in mic, and from I hear from my friends and family, works very well! They can hear my clearly and I can hear them over FM as well, although I had to turn up the volume very loud to hear their voice (for some reason, phone calls are much quieter than the music you're playing). Honestly, that's not much of a big deal though. Also! There is a USB port so you can charge your phone or ipod or what-have-yous.
Overall score and last comments: Definitely a 5/5, even with the below-average sound quality, and I will get to that in just a minute. First off, yes, I loved this thing! It was extremely helpful and definitely worth the money. I kept mine on at all times (when you turn off the car the Gogroove will turn off as well, of course, but when you start up your car it will turn on automatically, and automatically sync with whatever device you've connected to in the past, and the connection happens pretty fast too!)
And if you're curious about the 5/5 rating, despite the sound issues, it's because this is a great TEMPORARY fix to a crappy radio. I've gone through countless FM transmitter devices, and they've all been just a step better than the last. Granted, this is the best one I've ever had, hence the 5/5 stars, trust me, it's a great device. That said, I do suggest you plan on buying a new radio in the future (with Bluetooth or at least an AUX port so you never have to mess with the FM transmitters again!). The GOgroove is, again, a quick fix, so that you can charge your phone and listen to your music, but you won't get that sweet CD quality sound with this, you will get the bare minimum. The GOgroove has helped me survive a year by allowing me to avoid commercials, and I don't regret the purchase at all (in fact, I'm giving it to someone because I bought a new radio myself!) So yes, still consider getting the full shabam and use this as something temporary to carry you there.
TL;DR Awesome device! Great look, it's small, and very easy to use! Sound quality depends on the stability of your own signal pickup, for me, it was pretty bad. But still a worthy buy, and I'll definitely recommend. It will carry you a long way! But in the end, buy a new radio, this is a quick fix, not a new radio!
After extensive searching of reviews, I found one review for the GOgroove FlexSmart X2 Bluetooth FM Transmitter that stated for the price, this accessory did the job phenomenally. It was very easy to set up. I tuned to the lowest FM band that had static, paired my Galaxy S7 via Bluetooth and immediately was blown away by the sound. My music seemed to sound even better than it did with the other Bluetooth FM transmitter. Also, I live in the suburbs of a major city and I travel into the city for work. Not one issue with the signal tuned at 88.3 FM. The previous transmitter would have some issues at 87.1 where I would get some static near the city, but I could still hear the music but it was annoying to hear it kind of start to lose its punch due to the interference. With the GOgroove, I haven't noticed this interference at all.
I haven't tried the hands-free option yet, but my main goal was having the ability to stream my music via Bluetooth to my car stereo and this product does that in spades. I did notice when I turn the music up, there does seem to be some static, but it's not noticeable when music is playing, so it's not a huge deal breaker for me. Could be due to the station I'm currently tuned to.
There is an auto-tune option per the product's website where if you press and hold on the tuner dial for about 5 seconds, it will then auto tune to what it determines is the best signal. I haven't tried this since so far, the 88.3 frequency seems to work very well for me.
With the hands-free option, if a call comes in and you're streaming, it will pause the streaming when you answer the call and restart when you hang-up. This is only from what I've read as I haven't tried it yet, but if that is the case, that is a very nice feature.
Another nice feature is having the ability to have two Bluetooth devices paired and attached at the same time. The first device to start playing music will stream through. If you wish to switch to the other device, you just pause or stop the music on the current device, and then start playing music on the second device and it will then be the one streaming. Very nice if you have two people in the car that have different types of music and you want to switch off between the two at various times. No need to pair and unpair, just pause one device and start streaming the other and it all works!
I'm also very happy that since I'm not using the aux port, I can plug my phone into the second cigarette outlet in my vehicle and charge it without any static interference from the car engine. With my previous transmitter, I would get a whiny static interference while the car was on and the phone was charging. I have no idea if this was because I had to use an aux cord to play my music. Whether I used my own car charger cable in the 2nd car port, or if I hooked my phone up to the USB port of my previous transmitter, there was always whiny interference from the engine when charging my phone. With the GOgroove, no such static. Very nice!
Other than the minor static or hum I hear when there is no music or sound streaming, the only other issue I have which doesn't detract from my 5-star rating is that I do have to use the aux port for my SiriusXM radio I have since it is an older model that cannot transmit via Bluetooth. It can transmit to FM if I wanted to, but I notice that if I plug in an aux cord, it appears to take precedence over Bluetooth. It would be nice if I could switch between the two without having to unplug the cord when I want to listen to music from my phone. So, if I want to listen to SiriusXM, I have to plug in the aux cord and then unplug it when I'm wanting to listen to music from my phone. I have the device tucked away in a compartment where there is a cigarette port. I like doing it this way as it hides the device from would-be thieves and I don't have to leave it out in the open with the other cigarette port. So that's why having to plug and unplug the cord is kind of a chore. But, as I stated, that doesn't steal any stars from my review.
Definitely worth the price for me and I can finally put the aux cord away and there are no ugly wires to be seen.

4/5
We recently had a rental van while one of our vans went in for a repair. The rental was a new van and so it was kitted with an A2DP bluetooth and I also recently upgraded my phone to an iPhone 6 plus with a contract that provided loads of data.
I was able to stream from my phone to the van's radio via the van's bluetooth system and it was a real pleasure. The van went back after a few days and so I was back on my iPod.
I browsed around on Amazon for a bluetooth A2DP to FM converter and stumbled across this GoGroove Flexsmart 2X gadget.
It also featured a USB power output which would come in handy to feed power to my Tomtom Start 60 satnav. Based on the reviews, I decided to put another dent into the plastic and order one.
I was very impressed to see how easy it tuned into the van's radio and pair with my phone. The audio quality is excellent. It is very stable on 88.2 Mhz and it only once was drowned out by a strong station up north of England. I press and held the centre knob and it chose an open channel at 100.5 Mhz and I retuned the radio and all was great again.
You can also control the pause/play, skip forward/back directly from the GoGroove which means I don't have to take out my phone when I want to pause. You can't fast forward or rewind but this is a minor gripe. You have to do that on the phone if you find this necessary. Most of the streaming apps like the 'podcast' app gives you a skip back/forward 15s icon anyway.
The GoGroove also functions as a call answer kit. When a call comes in, the music fades and the caller comes through the speakers. The built in mike on the GoGroove functions as your phone's mouthpiece. It works really well. I also have a basic feature phone which is my work phone that I use in conjunction with my iPhone. My Plantronics Legend bluetooth headset is a multipoint device which means I can have both phones connected simultaneously. The GoGroove does not support multipoint but this is not an issue. I answer calls on my work phone with my headset. If I turn off the Gogroove, then my iPhone defaults back to my headset which is perfect. As soon as the GoGroove powers up, the headset hands control over to the GoGroove again. All the controls are well lit up in blue LED light and so it's easy to control during night driving.
NOW FOR THE BAAADDDD NEWS !!!!!
The cigarette lighter adaptor lasted only a few months and then went dead. I tried to send it back to Amazon but according to Amazon, it was not eligible for a return. I was really upset with this as I expected at least a year warranty on failures. I opened up the cigarette lighter plug unit and discovered that the positive wire which goes to the fuse had broken off.
I soldered it back on and it worked again. This lasted for another few months and then the wire going to the earth contact broke off and I had to solder that back on. It lasted for less than a day and the entire fuse housing assembly broke because of the poor quality of the plastic of the cigarette lighter plug.
I then ripped off the entire bendy arm and cigarette lighter and ran off to Maplin and bought a good quality cigarette lighter plug and managed to superglue it to the unit that the Gogroove slides onto. It now works okay and in a way I'm glad it broke because the bendy arm thingy is actually quite a nuisance. I now have a unit that's physically smaller than before and more compact. The only downside is that you can't twist the Gogroove to any position you want. You are stuck with it in one position protruding from the cigarette lighter socket. This is fine for me and looks more tidy. The fancy LED's that used to light up at the base are gone now but that's not a problem. They didn't serve any purpose anyway.
So a final warning to anybody considering this product. I simply can't fault the actual Gogroove unit. It works fantastically. It's just a pity that the manufacturer decided to mount it onto a really cheaply built cigarette lighter adaptor unit. It simply makes no sense to me. It's like buying a new BMW with plastic wheels on.
If you're not a little tech savvy then DON'T buy this unit. Look for something that has a good quality cigarette lighter adaptor on it.
=============
MAJ (21/02/14) :
=============
