After reading other reviews ( which were not all GREAT ) I ordered this unit.
I am very happy with it. It runs very cool ( although others said it ran hot ).
I'm powering a 15" MAC Book Pro and you'd never know it wasn't on a MAC adaptor.
The construction is VERY GOOD, the MAG connector is perfect and very solid.
It you took off the name on the case you'd never know it wasn't made by Apple.
All I can say is BUY IT, you'll be very happy.

Have all ready recommended it to many others. Hope they make others
for NON-MAC laptops as there is a great need for it.

UPDATE:

Checked and GPK Systems makes chargers ( 12 volt input ) for just about every laptop out there.
If they all work and are constructed as good as the MAC one I received, users are in for a real treat when
working out of their car ( or boat ), being able to power their laptop without the use of a 110 volt inverter and their normal power supply.

Again, can't recommend this unit enough, it is GREAT !!!

I purchased this adapter so I could charge my MacBook on the road, and from a solar cell system. It works fine for both. It is compact, and gets the job done.

It feels cheep because it is, but the circuitry is well done. The only problem is that this charger is inefficient. It gets hot, and the input and output amps dont add up.

It gets the job done, but it ain't no apple product.

I tend to buy larger power supplies than needed for devices. I know that heat kills electronics, and getting things with higher power ratings tends to make sure that they have sufficient cooling to not self destruct.

I got it a few months ago, and used it yesterday for the first time. In one hour it charged my 13 inch macbook pro from 33% to 85%. When putting my hand on the power block, I could tell that it was warmer than stuff around it, sort of like the way my wall power supply feels about 10 minutes after I have used my laptop (I have the apple 85 watt wall adapter too).

ie I am VERY happy with this purchase, and will probably be getting a few others as gifts.

update:
I have been using this for 3 months so far, and it still works great.

This charger seems to work just as well as the regular Apple wall-powered charger. I cannot speak to longevity, but I have been using this every day for a couple of weeks now, charging multiple Macs throughout the day and it seems to do fine. I am not using this in the car, but rather a house battery bank that can provide plenty of power - and the power does not fluctuate very much as it might in a car. The unit may get a little warm, but not overly so - probably comparable to how warm an Apple wall-powered charger gets. As it is used in a house, the ambient temperature does not fluctuate was much as in a car either. Time will tell as far as longevity goes, that could be the only issue. I am very careful when working with charger cords, I know this has a lot to do with how long a charger lasts - many people are rough with their chargers, including wrapping the cord up tight whenever they put the charger away - if possible, always avoid bending the cord repeatedly (or pulling the unit by the cord) and chargers of all sorts will last much longer. With Mac chargers, try to grasp the metal end directly to disconnect instead of pulling on the cord portion.
I do not have experience with any other Mac car chargers to draw a comparison, but I like this charger so far.

Update: After months of use, this charger is holding up and seems to work as well as the original Mac charger.

We take a lot of road trips and like to use our computer to get some work done, watch movies, the usual. The only problem is that the battery life of my MacBookPro is limited and thought a charger might be the answer since we have a charger for just about everything else. We just took a six hour road trip and the charger worked great. Both my daughter and I used the charger when our batteries were running low and it worked very well. The cord was long enough to reach to the back seat and connected to both a MacBookPro and a regular MacBook. Charge time seemed to be about the same as at home. It seems it is just what the "doctor ordered"! Would recommend to a friend!

Been using this charger on and off for about a year now. It's held up pretty well and is good quality.

UPDATE 1/26/16: The charger stopped working. It keeps blowing the fuses in my car/the 12v power supply I have in my office. I purchased this charger 1/20/14. It lasted about 2 years. I opened up the charger and it seems one of the voltage regulators has internally shorted.....it gets extremely hot as soon as you supply power to it. I could replace it. But for $27, I'll just buy another charger.

Removed one star due to failure

this car charger worked as advertised for 2 months then stopped charging my laptop
one week i used the charger every day for 2-3 hours, but other than that i only used it around 3 times a month for about an hour each time
if the car charger had lasted i would have given it 4 stars (only 4 cause it was a little clunky). my experience with 3rd party wall outlet laptop chargers has been similar, they work for a couple months then just quit.
