Learning never ends and the GR10e is a result of a constant desire to look at designs and materials and improve upon them. A higher level of precision and new materials allows for the performance of the GR10e to add frequency extension in both the high and low ranges as well as reducing distortion.
""...for the mid-band: its shock and awe! With enormous dynamics, extraordinary definition, and wide-open soundstaging, the GR10s are glorous midrange performers. This is where most of the music lives, and it lives big-time in the GR10s." — Robert Levi / Positive Feedback"

If you're already a Grado headphone listener, you'll instantly recognize the sound — warm, with rich midrange — which you're already hearing with the larger Grado headphones. To me, this is a very good thing. Clarity is impressive, but they also provide a very listenable and musical sound. There's nothing harsh about these in-ear monitors. And yes, the sound is audiophile-grade; all the usual audio geek buzzwords apply, including soundstage, dynamics, etc. I won't bother you with all that. They sound great.
A word of warning, however: you must get the fit right. I needed to use the largest included tips to get the phones to seal correctly. If the headphones don't seal, you'll have no bass and the sound will be thin. When I get around to it, I'll probably switch to foam tips, which should create an even better seal than the included rubber ones. As for break-in, and I'm not completely convinced such a thing exists, my brain told me that everything settled down within just a couple hours of listening.
I do wish they had in-line mic but I'm live without that for this sound quality.
Wish I would have found these long time ago, would have save myself and lot of money buying and selling other models.
Today I received these Foam tips - and they enhance the isolation and bass response greatly.
Jan 27,"18" - update - these are just so incredible. Since purchasing these I have purchased/tried many other - over ear and in-ear headphones, but NONE sound as good as these. They are so comfortable, sound so naturally/flat good and I don't even feel them in my ears. I have currently use the silicon tips which give a "open" sound. And then go to Comply for more closed type sound. I listen mostly to Lossless of HD files which also helps.
Material quality of the product is great. The cables seem sturdier than most in-ears I've own (klipsch, bose). Though they are thinner. The audio connector has extra support where it could bend which gives a bit of assurance since headphones usually ignore that part.
In terms of comfort, I replaced the silicone buds with another product for isolation but they seem typical.
Overall, I'm very satisfied with these and would stick to Grado's products.

Purtroppo però ho riscontrato un problema da computer, si sente un intenso e persistente fruscio di fondo e non nego che la presenza di un microfono le renderebbe più versatili e comode (ma magari comprometterebbe la resa)

I was so disappointed. I read that if you didn't get a proper seal, they would sound tinny. Indeed they did, regardless of the sleeve. I tried several, both foam and rubber flange sleeves and they sounded the same no matter what. They may have clarity and nice midrange and treble, but that's no use when the lower frequencies are barely present. I'm by no means a bass head, but the fact of the matter is that bass is important. It should not overshadow everything else, but it should be noticeable. It wasn't in these. The sound was simply underwhelming. Maybe my source wasn't good enough to do them justice, but an IEM that needs amplification is not for me.
