From the Author

It took me almost four years to get Grasping at Eternity to a place where I felt it was ready to share with the world. I hope readers love the kindrily characters even half as much as I do. I have put my heart and soul into this book. I will continue to put that much passion into the rest of the series. They have lifetimes of stories to be told. And I'm more than happy to tell them.

I haven't been this wow'd with a book one of a series in a very long time! It had absolutely everything I look for in a book!

Everything about this world is unique and believable. The writing was very good, intriguing and entertaining. I was hooked within a few pages and didn't put it down until I was done. There was so much going on yet it all flowed and panned out nicely. I love the fact that we get introduced to many themes and I loved how they were tackled in such a way that it felt natural to have one go with the other.

There are reincarnated souls, kindred spirits, soul mates, special powers, sprinkled with determination, passion and love. Not once was I bored. It was truly an exciting read. There's plenty of action and plenty of clean romance. The romance was incredibly sweet, heartbreaking and painfully suspenseful.

I highly recommend this book if you are looking for a very unique story. You won't be able to put this book down and you definitely won't regret not doing so.

To tell the truth, I read all 3 of the books before I wrote this review. Not because I couldn't decide what to say but because I did not want to take the time to stop reading. I was drawn into the story line from the first. Each book takes you to that appropriate moment to take a breather or to step neatly back into the weave of Maryah and Nathaniel. Enjoy. I did.

WOW, this book is AWESOME!!! I read every single word. Every time I got to the end of a chapter I wanted to stop because I didn't want to get to the end. But then I had to keep going because I wanted to know what happened.

Want to know a little about the book? Hmmm, what can I say that won't give away too much?

Well, the MC is a seventeen year old named Maryah. There's some romance, some love, some sadness, some pain, and some trials. This isn't your 'typical' supernatural book. There aren't any vampires, shape-shifters/weres, demons, or angels. There aren't any plot holes and the concept is clear. The book is well written. The plot isn't rushed. Things start happening from the very beginning, but they happen gradually and at a perfect pace. There was no slow reading for me in this book.

I absolutely love this book and I highly recommend it. I CANNOT wait for the next book in the series (which is planned for 2013 :(

Karen Amanda Hooper's Grasping At Eternity is the story of Maryah who erased her memories of her previous lives before beginning her current life. Now Maryah is living with her new adoptive family and has no recollection of the past they share. She also doesn't remember Nathan, her soulmate.

I really enjoyed Grasping At Eternity and finished it rather quickly. I loved Hooper's other book, Tangled Tides, so I was really excited to read another book by her. I love the way that Hooper writes because once again her story quickly hooked me in. Maryah was a really interesting character that I found that I connected with very easily. I especially found that I related to her in many ways. She not only finds herself living with a new adoptive family, but she is discovering that there is so much more to them. I like that her reactions to all of it were honest and realistic.

Nathan is Maryah's soul mate and he still remembers all of their previous lives together. I liked that the chapters alternated between Maryah and Nathan. It not only helped move the plot along but it helped develop the characters more deeply.

There were so many side characters that I really enjoyed getting to know. I especially loved Carson, Harmony, and Faith and wanted to know even more about their characters.

The concept of reincarnation that Hooper incorporates into the book is really interesting and different from anything that I have read before. It was a bit confusing at first, but as the story progressed it became much easier to understand. I really enjoyed how this story unraveled and I found it to be paced well. The plot was exciting and filled with twists. I especially was not expecting that ending. I'm really looking forward to the second book now. Overall I thought that Grasping At Eternity was an excellent start to what will sure be a great series!

I hardly ever pay for books. There are so many free ones out there and being retired and living on a fixed budget, I try very hard not to spend too much. That said, I just bought the second book in this series.

We all wonder what happens after death. Our bodies are gone but what about our souls? This book has expressed an idea that actually appeals to me. Apparently we have all chosen to erase our memories of past lives. There are always reports of people remembering their past life.

Maryah is a teenager, living a pretty normal life. She has a twin brother who annoys her, but she loves him. She has a best friend, who also is her cousin. When her family is murdered she ends up going to live in a different state with her godmother. From there things start to feel a little strange. She meets Nathaniel but there is no connection on her part.

This book was one of those books I could not put down. And when I was forced to put it down for things like showers, driving, and other annoying little things, I kept thinking about this story. Do we always come back to a single group of people? Do we all have soul mates we are destined to look for all our lives? Do we have the choice to remember?

I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a little romance, a little mystery, and a little magic in their stories. This book has it all and I can't wait to start the second book.
