Something different and refreshing

"What is that drink in the cooler?" At our local authentic Chinese restaurant, QingDao, I wondered about the cans among the Coke, Sprite, and orange soda. Grass Jelly Drink? Never heard of it-- so had to try it. The owner advised me to shake the can well and drink with a straw to get the jellies at the bottom. So I anticipated a sort of bubble tea, and I guess it is a similar concept. T
he drink was lightly sweet, very tasty and refreshing, with tiny cubes of black jelly that zipped up the straw. The pleasant sweet flavor was similar to a green tea, and I read in Wikipedia that it is made with the stalks and leaf of a relative of the mint plant. Very common in Asia, as a drink but also grass jelly as a gelatin-type dessert. I found the same product here on Amazon and will order a 10-pack now. It will be fun to use as a cocktail mixer for a delicious conversation starter!GRASS JELLY DRINK ORIG 2x330G
