Getting pills twice a day, this 60 pack is a great value as it lasts me an entire month.
The only downside I can report is the zipper closures on the bags are very hit or miss. In 3 bags, I had 2 of them tear away from the bag. This is easily remidied by pouring them into a ziplock bag, but might be an annoyance to you and is worth mentioning.
1. Scout seems to like the Wet Works Pill Treats better.
2. The Vet Works have a better shaped and deeper pocket than the Greenies.
3. The Greenies have a bit of slimy feel and slightly odd smell. After handling the Greenies Pill Pockets, I always want to wash my hands and they still have a mild but noticeable chemical smell for a while.
4. The Vet Works Pill Treats fit and mold around the large pills better than the Greenies.
Other differences that don't seem important: The Greenies are light brown and very soft all the time. The Vet Works Pill Treats are dark brown and a little firmer. The Pill Treats soften a little more a few days after opening, but either way, they mold well to the pill.
Both Products are acceptable, but Scout and I both prefer the Vet Works Pill Treats.
Both come in 60 pocket packages. The Greenies were a little cheaper.
These Greenies Pill Pockets work great. I can put the Meds inside of it and they stay there. They have never fell out even when they fall out of my Dog's Mouth. She loves the Taste and will stay after it until she eats it. This is a great Product for giving my Dog to get her Meds down her without any hassles. Put the Pill in the open slot and close it shut and I am Happy that she gets her Meds.
For the first year, he took the pills with ease in peanut butter. After about 6 months, I suspect I began to taste the pills in the peanut butter and began literally turning his nose up whenever offered.
I transitioned to hiding them in cheese which lasted less than a week. As the clever Aussie he is, he would easily pick the pills out of the cheese in his mouth, spit the pills out, swallow the cheese, and then look at me expectantly for the second round of cheese.
On to hotdogs. This lasted for a bit longer as he was so excited to have hotdogs he would literally swallow them whole. It would take a whole hot dog a day, which became pretty expensive quickly, but he seemed happy. One unlucky day, however, he bit into the hotdog, causing one of the capsules to open. White powder went all over his mouth, resulting in sneezing, vomit and a general disgust for hotdogs.
Next was hiding the pills in wet food with his meals, though he even learned to pick around them in there. I was finally at my wits end and decided to invest in pill pockets. I always thought they were a "gimmick" and did not have my hopes high.
I got the "capsule" size and stuffed two capsules and 1 small pill in one of the pockets. I proceeded to close it and he proceeded to gobble it down. In the past 2 months since we started using pill pockets, he has never refused one. He excitedly waits for his pill pocket every morning and evening. He has even chewed on these without any issues.
These are 100% NOT gimmicks. Take it from a person who could not get her dog to take his pills before pill pockets, these are a life-saver. Thank you for making it easy and quick to give my dog the pills he needs every day.
we have rescues with medical issues. One of our dogs has a leg that was broken and will never mend right, because it was left untended. Our elderly dog has arthritis, and is finicky. Both refuse to touch pills disguised in cheese or in peanut butter. They're both experts at picking apart the cheese, or licking of the peanut butter, and leaving the pill lying on the floor.
These solve all of that. The dogs love the taste, and because of they way they're made, it's nearly impossible for them to pick out the pills. So, the dogs get a treat, and their medication, and I get back the time and annoyance of trying to get their meds down them.
