We go camping a lot and usually we go where there are hook ups, but a couple times we have had to dry camp. I felt completely lost without my coffee!! But I was still undecided on buying a percolator, so I waited. We live on the outskirts of town and our power went out at our house. That was it, I was buying a percolator! I looked everywhere and did my research and decided on this one. And I love it!
-All of it is heavy gauge stainless steel, including the basket. I have heard of the glass ones cracking. And I have heard the Alumium ones add a bad flavor to your coffee over time. So stainless steel was a must for me.
- And the basket has a lid! This helps reduce coffee grounds getting into your coffee.
-I wanted at least a 12 cup for my big family. This one is the perfect size, great for large groups.
-It's easy to wash and clean. The lid is attached, so I just wash it out with a little soap and water and let it air dry.
-It says the amount of cups of water to pour in on the outside and the inside. This is very helpful.
-it has a silicone handle so you don't burn your hand.
So I had to do a bit of research on the best way to use a percolator. First I went and bought good coffee at our grocery store and had it grinded coarse. This makes the coffee big enough that you don't have to use a filter in the basket. I did buy little percolator filters to keep on hand just in case I only had fine grinded coffee.
I used about 1T scoop of coffee per 2 ounces of water. This was just my preference. Make sure to spread the coffee around in the basket evenly.
I then put it on medium until I saw it starting to percolate in the glass bubble and then I turned it down to simmer for 3 to 5 minutes. Watch it closely to make sure your not burning the coffee. You will see the percolating starting to slow down.
It made amazing coffee, better than my electric coffee pot. I loved that my whole house smelled wonderful! I am going to also purchase some type of warming carafe to put the coffee in, in case we don't drink it all right away.
I would recommend this percolator to anyone! It's great quality! Worth every penny! This should be the last one I ever need.

The results are a superb cup of coffee. The water is coming in contact with every last coffee ground. You just need to be careful you need to remove it before you pour your cup of coffee. The Pyrex is hot you could get burned it's a sacrifice you got to make to get a great cup of coffee. I put 2 pictures in you can see it in the photo
After using this amazing (GSI Outdoors Glacier Stainless Coffee Percolator Cup with Silicone Handle 6 Cup) twice. I perfected making a great cup of coffee. Pictures as follows 4 heaping tablespoon of coffee. 1 ply Kleenex Tissue. "Don't laugh! Stop it!" I have Been using it for about 55 years. Poke a hole in the center of the tissue pushing it down into the basket. Put your 4 heaping tablespoons of coffee cut around the edge just like a regular coffee filter This 6 cup coffee maker makes two 12 oz cups of coffee totaling 24 oz of coffee. You can just make one cup. Use fresh cold water don't let it boil. You will see the water almost come to a boil and start percolating don't walk away. Turn it down immediately as soon as you see it start to percolate turn it down to number 4 or 5 on most stoves . Set the timer for 7 minutes. It fills the house with that amazing smell of percolated coffee that alone is worth every penny. If you like a stronger cup 10 minutes. If you like a really hot cup of coffee you can heat your creamer or milk first it doesn't take long in a microwave 20 to 30 seconds don't overheat it. Could be less for you I use 4 tablespoons of creamer. Yeah it's dessert. Coffee-mate Hazelnut creamer nothing better. Don't walk away from your coffee pot. When the timer goes off turn off the burner lift coffee pot set off to the side don't put it back down on a hot burner. It will be hot. Using two hands one hand using your thumb on lexon holding the lid closed the other pouring with the handle and enjoy. Don't try to reheat coffee in the pot. You'll inadvertently forget it and ruin your pot and the coffee in it. Reheat any leftover coffee in the microwave minimally 45 seconds. If you reheat it to hot it will be bitter. If in any way this helps you please click helpful thank you.

Sehr zufrieden damit.
