This cookware set is great for 1-2 person car camping. The non-stick coated aluminum is great. When making eggs/bacon or noodles/beans/sausage it withstand the beatings from my forks and spoons well. There "bowls" they like to call it is more like big cups. The folding pot gripper is awesome and small. It folds up really quick and will fit in the mugs with the lids close. The down side is the when cooking with it for a long periods of time it will conduct heat. The strainer lid works great for poring out the liquid when making something noodles. On amazon it say two pots. There is only one pot and one frying pan. Unless you can call the frying pan a small pot I don't know. I bought this back in December 4, 2012 and still using to this day.

This cook kit is a good compromise between some of the Pinnacle sets from GSI and the Bugaboo Base Camper, which I had previously owned. The only difference between this kit and the Base Camper is that there are two less bowls/mugs, no plates, and one less pot. But for two people, this kit is perfect. I also own the GSI Outdoors Crossover Kitchen Kit, and previously I didn't understand why the case for that kit was shaped like a half circle. Now that I own this kit, I know why. That kit drops right into this kit next to the cups/bowls. You can get the plate set for about $8 on Amazon, and you can drop those right into this kit - save yourself $10 or so if you don't need all the extra pots and bowls.

Just be careful with the lid, as it is not designed to take direct heat from a reflector. That can melt it.

In short, this kit works great for camping and backpacking (it's also nice to have if you just go for a picnic).

A very good though not super lightweight camp option for a couple of people. I wish they sold the 4 person set more prominently (not an Amazon issue). I don't like that I have to buy the third and fourth set of dishes separately.

We've had this set for three summers now, so I figure it's time to write a review about it. I shopped around quite a bit to find a set for two people that was reasonably light and included both a pot and a pan, since my partner likes to cook skillet-style with a pan, plus preferably a container to wash dishes in. Something versatile that cleverly packed in everything we needed with a light enough weight for backpacking if need be. We didn't have any camping equipment at all, so we needed something that would cover all our needs. This does the trick, and the GSI Crossover Kitchen accessory set fits perfectly inside for our more gourmet trips. This baby has it all: a pot, a pan, cups with lids, bowls, a strainer built into the pot lid, and even the kitchen sink. It's the do-it-all cook set. What it doesn't have is an extra pot handle, so you won't be able to use the pot and pan at the same time until you buy a second handle. Yes, GSI sells them individually for just such a time as this. Definitely something to consider, because trust me, you don't want to deal with switching the handle between both while cooking on narrow camp stoves. Besides that small consideration, it has all the essentials.

GSI makes some solid outdoor products, and we ended up being happy with this set, though it's way more than most people need for backpacking. It's aimed at car campers and gourmet backpackers, as GSI makes other, more minimalist sets for the ultralight backpackers and long-distance trekkers that are much better for those purposes. I'm eyeing their Ketalist set for the more long-distance trips I'm planning, as a lighter alternative.

This set, though, is a solid and reasonably versatile choice. To cut weight, we usually just adjust what we bring based on what trip we're going on.

I under estimated how big and heavy this is. Shouldn't have been called backpacker kit. There is a very specific spot that you have to use for the handle and it is TERRIBLE. I know it sounds super nitpicky but the pot is sitting on an UL (small) cook stove, you can easily tip the thing over while struggling to put the handle into the cradle to lift the pot. This can be very frustrating while you're trying to attach the handle but your food is threatening to burn since camp stoves burn super hot.

I'll probably be switching a smaller set for back packing and keeping this for car camping. this is a pretty darn cool set for car camping.

This set was invaluable on our camping trip along with a few other camping items. Food was simple and fast to prepare and clean up was as easy as it gets. I would fry up some eggs in minutes over a fire, serve them without any sticking, and have it washed in a minute. This set best combines with a good kitchen set to really make use of it but adding the extra accessories until you have a complete outdoor setup makes for a smooth enjoyable food experience.

Bought this set several years ago. Use it often camping. Works great, Just the right amount of cook gear for 2 people. I recently melted the strainer lid, my fault; (mine was an older version with a smokey translucent plastic lid). I called GSI and they said they've improved the lid and they'd mail me one no charge!

I'll definitely recommend this set and buy GSI products again.
