It works as advertised. It's sturdy. The bottom stores in the top, so it's compact. Cleanup is quick. Never runs out of batteries.
LESS THAN GOOD
It must be clamped to something strong and stable--which rules out anything in our camper. So it's out into the cold each AM to clamp the Vortex to a camp table and grind away.
Does not blend as thoroughly as the Coleman battery powered blender (but doesn't run battery dead in 2 days either).
Not strong enough to break up ice cubes.
When I first received this blender, I was pretty taken aback at the overal cheap quality. I mean, we're paying top dollar for this thing, and what do we get? The cheapest blender you will probably ever see. The pitcher in particular is made of a flimsy, weak plastic, obviously cheaper than the pitcher from even a $30 blender. I mean, how much does a glass pitcher cost, in China? $5? Probably a lot less. This bothered me but I resolved to give this blender a fair shot - I mean, it's gotten so many good reviews online.
For the first couple of times I tried to use this blender, I couldn't even get past the pitcher problem. The plastic is so flimsy, it can barely hold a seal at all. First couple of times I tried to use it, it simply made a mess all over the counter, with a geyser of fruit juices coming out of the base of the pitcher. Finally I figured out the trick: you need to disassemble the pitcher every time you use it, and VERY CAREFULLY line up the gasket and threads, and very carefully tighten it down, careful not to stress that flimsy plastic pitcher in any way or it'll bend.
At the third attempt, I managed to get that P.O.S. plastic pitcher to hold water. So I put in a banana, some strawberries, and some ice. I had watched some youtube videos about this thing, so I knew not to expect very much. I was careful to crush the ice at a slow speed. Then I switched to the high speed setting, and guess what happened?Read more ›
We almost did not buy it because of the awful reviews 😬
I bought a hand-crank blender through Amazon from you.
We have been living off the grid for 3 years now. I must admit we had terribly happy 3 weeks of use of your Vortex blender.
After 3 weeks it stopped working and so it left emptiness in our short joy lived with it.
We live down in Mexico, so after reading all the warranty info we decided to give it a try ourselves as it would cost us almost the same amount to send it back to you.
This is no claim, it is just an advice. I got to open it and find out what the problem was. In my opinion, the "ability" of the blender to turn to both clockwise and counter-clockwise wears off the cog which has cuts to both sides.
My suggestion: eliminate this "ability" and keep one direction design and blending so the cog does not wear off, thus loosing all abilities at once.
Thank you for the 3 weeks of joy. It was a bit expensive for us, but the shakes was something we had missed for a while.
We will save for a new blender and when time come to use it we will only move it to 1 direction.
Nice product, keep up the good work and let us know if you perfect any of these aspects soon!

Doesn't do ice well. Clamp system is major weakness. You really have to crank down the clamp to keep the unit from 'walking' and loosening up. Read morePublished 5 months ago by M. A. Kohn
Very impressed with the quality of the product and the quick delivery. The only drawback is the inability to crush ice cubes - maybe we haven't figured out exactly how to do it... Read morePublished 11 months ago by Benedict W Howes
