The GSPSCN air compressor is a convenient unit but it falls short of some the manufacturers stated specifications. I tested the unit while comparing it to a similar air compressor that I have been using for 2 years to fill my Jeep tires after off-roading. The context of my opinions are as if the unit were used to fill tires. I've included a table for comparison between the 2 equivalent compressors. Read on for my impressions.
Test Conditions: I removed the air in my Rubicon Jeep 35" tires to a level of 15 PSI which is typical for off-roading and filled to 35 PSI, the normal street pressure and measured the time to fill, all this at sea level. I connected power using the alligator clips directly to the battery and ran the engine for a DC voltage of 14.4V. I separately measured air pressure with 2 different gauges that both agreed on pressure.
The BAD:
-- OVERSTATED CFM OUTPUT: As shown in the table below the manufacturer states a output 2.47 cubic feet per minute (CFM). Comparing the time to fill a tire of the 2 compressors the GSPSCN takes 2 minutes longer the Master Flow which has the same CFM rating. A little arithmetic then suggests the GSPSCN provide a CFM more about 1.6 CFM, significantly lower then its competitor.
-- OVERSTATED ACCURACY: Again when inflating the tire to the stop set of 35 lbs, the unit would stop at that setting but the actual tire pressure was 32 PSI. So the manufacturer stated accuracy of 1% is more akin to 8%.
-- LONG TIRE FILL TIME: Again since my use if for filling tires after off-roading, it somewhat important this be done quickly as all 4 tires need to be filled from 15 to 35 PSI. The GSPSCN took 5 min 34 seconds to fill a tire while the competitor Master Flow was a significant 2 minutes faster per tire at 3 min 30 seconds. Worse, given GSPSCN limit of 20 minutes run time with a 20 minute rest, you would have to wait 20 minutes before filling the last tire.
-- SHORT AIR HOSE: The air hose is too short to reach the rear tires with the compressor located center front of the Jeep (see picture). When at that position the air hose would no reach the rear tires. The electrical cable is long enough so that one could move the compressor to reach but unnecessary if the air hose was long enough as it is with the Master Flow unit.
-- CIGARETTE LIGHTER PLUG. When I plugged the cigarette light plug into the receptacle for the alligator clips, the plug would push itself out breaking electrical contact. Once I firmly inserted and twisted the receptacle it seemed to stay in place. This is a poor electrical connection or with higher then necessary resistance for the high currents required.
-- NO AIR FILTER: Most of the places I would use the compressor and dusty and grimy. There is no indication there is a serviceable air cleaner on the unit.
The GOOD:
-- NOT HOT: There are no hot spots to burn your fingers. Even after running for 10 minutes 4, the cylinder heads are nicely protected and the air outlet is at the end of a rubber hose so its never too hot to touch.
-- RUNS AT 12V: While the instruction state to start the engine so the battery is closer to 14.4V, I did run the unit without the engine on and a battery level of 11.9V and achieved the same fill time of 5.5 minutes as when it ran at 14.4V
-- AUTO STOP WORKS: the Auto Stop is a nice feature so you don’t have to constantly monitor the pressure. It did work and stopped at the setting I made, however, as I mentioned earlier it stopped 3 PSI short of the actual tire pressure. When you know this you can simply set the level 3 PSI higher but this is clearly not within the mfrs stated 1% accuracy.
-- RELATIVELY QUIET: I measured 82 dBa at 3ft from the compressor. The Master Flow measured 84 dBa. While the mfr suggests its quiet, thats a very relative statement as its not really quiet at all but relative to a oiless air compressor its good. For example a diesel train at 45 mph at 100 ft is 83 dB, a food blender is 88 dB and a garbage disposal is 80 dB.

CONCLUSION:
The GSPSCN air compressor after testing reveals itself to be a very light duty, low CFM unit with inflated manufacturer specifications. While the auto stop would be a great convenience, it is outweighed by its low CFM taking 5.5 minutes to fill a single Jeep tire form 15 to 35 psi. Ultimately I think the Master Flow is a much better choice especially with the 3 year warranty vs 1 for the GSPSCN.
