A few things that surfaced from my memory banks while reading this story were: seeing the sun rise over the Matterhorn on my first trip overseas; the author's memory of Princess Caroline evoked strong memories of me and my little Spanish car (Seat 133) snaking along that very same highway that Princess Grace had her fatal accident on... It was 0200 and my little car was nearly out of gas so I literally coasted into Monte Carlo. So, the Cote d'Azur has a special memory for me. I also zipped around the 'residence' for the royalty of Monaco the next morning.
All in all, another exquisite short story by Ms. Kahn. AH, the power of memories! To paraphrase her, she is grateful for them and they stay in her heart.
Most highly recommended.
Ethical work experience has qualified this talented author to present this enjoyable short travel story. The author has been exposed to people of different cultures and has worked as a simultaneous interpreter and translator. She is a linguist who speaks several languages, five of which are fluent (how clever is that?). Work also in the travel/airline and music industries has bolstered experience to draw on when writing.
GSTAAD GRACE (TRAVEL TALES) is well written and a page turner - just the right length to whet the appetite for those who enjoy short stories. I can recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a quick and interesting short story in a beautiful and subtle educational read. A ‘feel good’ story - designed to leave happy readers smiling. Read to the end to find who Gstaad Grace really is!
I haven’t yet read the other books from this series but if this one is anything to go by they can be highly recommended.
Well done Denise Khan – a well-deserved five stars.
PS. Maybe I'll be so lucky as to meet Princess Caroline one day? :)
