Good quality BUT.....
4 out of 5 stars
Good quality BUT.....
I would give this 5 stars if not for the lack of solder on the cables. The connections seem very fragile and I have doubts it is enough solder to handle 130 amps flowing through them. This is easy enough to fix BUT one shouldn't have to "fix" a new product.

This item came in the time frame specified & was well packed. After soldering on my own connectors(it doesn't include connectors), I gave it a test run with just hooking up a 3S 2200 mah, a 3S 2600 mah, a 3S 5000 mah, and a 6S 2600 mah lipo(S). It read the voltages correctly. Then I hook it up to my quadcopter & ran my quad at idle(motors not armed), idle(motors armed), mid, and full throttle it worked great & was within the specified tolerances they gave in the manual. A great & invaluable tool to for any hobbyist to have in the flight box. This helps me get the most efficiency out of my power setup because I can see what I'm pulling out of my power system. Great tool with a great price. I'll probably order a couple more to have some spares.

Works well, values seem to be very close, and the alternate power plug to retain memory is great.
The leads are extremely short, but the silicone insulation is nice, extending the wires is easy.
I tested the meter by running a trailer tail-light for 24 hours, all the values were correct, and I am please with the case and quality.

This was my 3rd buy of this or a later 150 A version of product (do NOT reverse polarity!). This one reads a few hundredths to a tenth or so high on voltage (vs. my Fluke), so I assume that also affects the accuracy of all other readings proportionately. I looked inside, but there are no obvious calibration pots or otherwise. Despite this, the unit is a remarkable value for gaining insight into what a battery or charging system is up to. Use your VOM instead of this to measure voltage precisely, but the unit will give a good sense of current flow, power consumption, and approximate capacity. Fab up your own Molex-style BLS-3 connector with a 9-volt battery harness and you can run this right down to 0 volts -- pretty nice.

I hooked one of these up to a deep cycle 12v battery, after I came back in an hour, the display is all messed up with numbers and characters all over, unreadable.

When I disconnect and reconnect, the display only shows one number in 6 spots on the screen.
I let it sit for a couple of days and when I give it power again it works for 20-30 seconds then starts going nuts again.
I don't even have a load on it, probably going to get a different analyzer.

The unit is simple but there's one catch. I actually threw it in the bin until I read about this. The measurement is in the negative line, not the positive. So if there's any way that current can bypass this device, it will read too low.

I used this device to measure the flow of solar power from the Charge controller (source) to the battery (load) on my RV solar system (Sponsored by Renogy). There was 3 videos I found on YouTube making similar applications.

Video 1: Compared this to similar products. O scope readings indicated GT Power was most accurate.
Video 2: Small soar setup with Solar panels as "Load" and Battery as "source." Not the configuration I chose nor would.
Video 3: Small solar setup mounted GT between Battery (Source) and Inverter (Load). This will be the configuration for GT Controller #2 I plan on installing.

Item arrived on time and well secured. I installed immediately being careful not to connect under load from solar panels or battery. I was only able to monitor the system for about 2 days before bringing he RV back to storage until this upcoming weekend. The unit functioned as promise by the manufacturer providing real time statistics on all critical information monitoring what was flowing through it. Its been killing me all week to see if it still works but I will just have to wait till Friday. Hopefully it works and nothing has shorted...

Keep in mind this unit was designed to measure small RC batteries and equipment, not a solar system. The manufacturer will not provide support, tech advice or warranty for applications other than what it specifies.

I should have bought 2 of these instead of the much raved about "Watt's up" device. This one is bigger and feels much better. It can handle 40amp DC with ease. The little "Watt's up" wires is getting very hot when the DC current is around 30amp. I agreed that the back lid screen is not easy to read as the other little one with no back lid. I wish it could store KWh instead of resetting itself to 6545Wh. I wish the wires are a bit longer (like 1-2 inches more). For the $20 price, i'll take this any day instead of the $54 "Watt's up" one. I highly recommend to feed it with an external power source using your own little female socket.

After 1+ month use, there are some problems with the unit. I use external battery to keep the display on when the source power went out but the display does not show anything. I used to show and retain the values but now everything completely goes blank. When the power source is on, the unit resume working normal. Obviously, this does not do what I want to retain the values with external power when solar power is gone (the night comes)

The other $54 unit is working fine.

I found a battery with a really high resistance to charge with this which helped me determine a problem with a battery bank running down to fast it was being a leach to the other batteries due to not being charged as fast as the others. I have no problem with the blue back light at all i actually like it.

Ive used it to test my solar deep cycle batteries check the amps from the solar panels and calibrate another meter i have using this and also seeing what my inverter pulls off the batteries under normal usage. All i can say is its been really usefull.

**CON** wire this thing comes with is 12 awg under any circumstance DO NOT try to pull 130 amp through this for longer then a few seconds the wires CAN and WILL melt down 12awg wire is not meant for that high of amps and will not be a accruate reading due to high resistance from smaller guage wire. At best and the most to trust it with would most likely be 20amp constant 50amp surge and the wire will heat up at 50amps just keep an eye on it if the load is going to be that high for very long.

Over all no regrets buying it. Just would have been nice for the seller not to sit on my money for a week before mailing it.
