GTA 4 - 5/10. Runs like a dog on modern PCs, vehicular controls are awful, a lot of the content isn't very fun, colour palette is varying shades of brown and grey, aka real life. Still one of the best recreations of modern day New York City however, if you're into boring virtual tourism.
LA Noire - 7/10. Try to roleplay as Cole Phelps, the world's most bi-polar detective. Serious disconnect between what you the player intends to do, and how the protagonist carries out that action. Pick Doubt for example, and Cole Phelps may charge someone with high treason and put them to the stake. Or, cast falsehood upon a suspect and Phelps may go with another line of questioning. It's bizarre and not an easy thing to do (ie. get into how Cole would interpret and execute the 3 main interrogative options). Other than that, the PC port is pretty bare bones, but it works. Post-war Los Angeles is painstakingly recreated, but it's put to waste, because its just a glorified map for boring evidence collection, boring driving and boring shootouts. Mo-cap and facial animation is some of the best ever seen in a game, but again, despite this Rockstar-sized production value, the core of the game is way too ambitious for its own good and simply not very fun. Get Danganronpa or Phoenix Wright instead for your courtroom hijinx.
GTA San Andreas - 8/10. I still have super fond memories of this bad boy. Rockstar's unrivaled attention to cultural/historical detail is unmatched. You literally feel the grime and desperation of 90s West Coast Black America. It's basically an interactive rap album. Still runs on PC, but controls are dated, gameplay structure is dated, graphics are dated (but charming in that PS2 fashion), but the whole package is still one of the best.
