OK, so this game has 4 levels of DRM:
1. Steam
2. SecuROM
3. Rockstar Social Club
4. Games for Windows Live (which will close down in a few months, not sure what happens then)

Since this is a Steam key, Steam DRM should be enough. If they stripped out the other DRM this would be a definite buy, but I can't recommend anyone get this with all this idiocy. These companies should honestly be ashamed.

Edit: Just to be clear, this isn't about Amazon Digital Distribution. If you buy the game from Steam it would be the same, so if you're going to get it anyway, its good to pay less for it here.

I've purchased GTA 4 through steam and I'm telling you that the game will not work; you will be able to download and install the game, but an annoying sign in part of the process called Social Club is bugged and you can't get past the sign in screen. TRUST ME I also ignored all of the warnings people have left on other PC GTA 4's and regret it; IT WILL NOT WORK!!! If you don't believe me, look up "GTA 4 Social Club" on YouTube!

I gave the game 4 stars because it has one of my all-time favorite games in it. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is the best game that Rockstar has ever made in my opinion. The others are okay. GTA III starts it out, and you can tell it's age by the play mechanics and graphics. They aren't *bad* per se, just dated.
It should also be noted to anyone new to the franchise that the games were not released in numerical order, and so certain features that you get in some games (like boats and planes) are dramatically different than others. For example, in San Andreas (which is set in the early/mid 90's) you can get planes, boats, hang gliders, parachutes, and more... but in GTA III (set in 2001) you get none of that, but in GTA IV (set in 2008) you get more features than in any of the other games.
I really like the entire series, some more than others, but for the most part I think they are all great fun, as long as you know up front that the M that these games are rated is a 10-foot tall, bold font, HUGE "M" with neon lights around it. GTA III set the stage for every open-world game that came after it, and there have been a ton. Before GTA III you rarely got such freedom in games to do basically whatever you wanted to do. You like that car? Don't worry about the old lady driving it - pull her out of it, smack her down for good measure, and head to the gun store, picking up a couple of hookers on the way. The whole series is pretty much based on your ability to do what you want, when you want, and to whom you want, and it accomplishes that very *very* well.
There are a few downsides to mention as well, but most of them are easily surpassed by the things that they get right so they are mostly insignificant. For instance, I found it very annoying that in GTA: Vice City (set in 1986) you are in a city that is, for all intents and purposes, a Miami clone, and you can't swim. You die as soon as you are in water above your waist. In a game that is dominated by water, I found it more odd than it being a game-breaker. So the protagonist can't swim... strange, but hardly a glaring hindrance to the overall story or gameplay.

So anyway, if you sat through and read this entire gigantic review, then I thank you, and I hope that if you are considering buying this combo that my review was at least a little helpful. I'll monitor this review, so if anyone has any questions about any of the games, I would be happy to answer them as best as I can.

I only gave this two stars because the games that I actually wanted to play I can't even activate them nor get them running.

The main problem lies on Games for Windows Live which is required to both run and activate GTA 4, because Microsoft basically killed of GFWL so most if not all serial keys that Steam and/or Rockstar provide to activate them on GFWL or come up as invalid or with some sort of error. This is a problem that Rockstar has to fix with a patch that doesn't require GFWL and they need to get heads out of their own holes and care for the PC market for once.

I just want to say all the GTA games are some good games and I really hope that I get to play GTA 5 one day.
Please put it on PC Rock star.

These games do not work on windows 8. Google Grand Theft Auto Windows 8 to see for yourself. I wish it did.
