These things are fantastic. My wife and I carried several of them with us when we ran our first half marathon, and I'm convinced there were times that these were the only things keeping us going. The flavors are great, personally I like the chocolate and coffee flavors best but my wife loved the caramel and vanilla so everyone's happy! This pack came with a ton of them too, we carried quite a few with us to the half marathon and there were a lot left over so I took some to work to get me through night shift. These little guys pack quite a punch, and I was surprised by how much energy I got from one little pouch, and the energy didn't wear off too fast either. Highly recommended for runners or anyone living on caffeine and looking for a better alternative to guzzling energy drinks all night when you're too tired to be operating heavy machinery but still are expected to do so.

For intermediate to long runs, I always start first thing in the morning and before breakfast. I find that morning runs that start with an energy gel go much better than an empty tank, but doesn't weigh me down like a full breakfast. You definitely need water when trying to down the thick paste, however. It's like super viscous brownie batter. The taste is good enough. You're not going to be jonesing for an energy gel snack any time soon, but you're not grossed out by the flavor.

I questioned whether or not these were actually working or if I was experiencing "placebo effect" so I brought it to one of my Anatomy professors to look at. He looked over the ingredients list and then proceeded to delve into the science of how & why it works.

I will save you the boring to most/fascinating to me details - definitely not placebo effect! Essentially, it's helping your body produce the ATP it needs to keep you going. So it's definitely working the way that it should.

The Toasted Marshmallow are my absolute favorite flavor followed by the Salted Caramel.

I have used energy gels for over 10 years for a variety of race distances in running and cycling. It helps when you use one prior to a race and then I continue using additional gels every 40-45 minutes until I finish my race. The Caramel Macchiato has a nice taste and doesn't overpower you with the coffee taste. The amount of caffeine is very good for long or intense workouts, whereas on shorter runs, I use gels with 25 mg of caffeine. I can finish my exercises without feeling drained. Be sure to hydrate! The only drawback is this flavor does not have a litter leash as the Clif Shot gels have.

I was burning out (hitting the wall) when I tried to run more than 13 miles.
I am preparing to run my first marathon and needed some help. I looked at a lot of energy supplements and my biggest concern was how a supplement might hit my stomach halfway into a run.
I’m happy to say that these supplements are working for my running regimen, give me a noticeable energy boost very quickly after consuming, and so far I have not had any stomach issues. I am taking two during long runs right and will probably use 3 during marathon runs in addition to what the event hands out.
Right now I pause my run to take these. I know I need to learn to take them while running before my marathon and it definitely seems possible as these gels are pretty dense (not runny/messy).
I like this flavor pack and will probably stick with it.

Great taste. Compact and easy to carry a few packets on the run. I just put the whole box in my car trunk and it survives the coastal CA heat and cold. So, it is available at the end of my run where ever I go running.

Good energy boost helps not only during a long run but also for recovery if consumed immediately afterwards. A medium distance (1 hr or so) run doesn’t need a GU but taking one when I get to my car helps recovery. Muscles need energy quickly to recover. GU delivers that better than a banana.

I liked all the flavors I tried but the chocolate ones are my most favorite.

Turns out it’s a really bad combo and I’m dreading choking down the remaining 23, at which point I’ll replace them with the indulgent assortment. Dear GU: Please offer a super mix pack with one of every niche flavor so we can try everything out without committing to trying it 24 times.

My new favorite flavor of GU!! It used to be Mocha.... now it is definitely Caramel Macchiato. It tastes just like a sweet shot of coffee. I am a triathlete and use these during workouts and races. I consume one within the first 30 minutes of biking (after the swim). If it's an half Ironman race, I'll consume two during the bike leg. I have yet to attempt slurping one down during the run (fear of choking, I guess?), but I know many who do with success. :) Again.... Caramel Macchiato.... YUM!
