Questo volume non fa eccezione ma mi è risultato - specialmente nella prima parte, quella storico/introduttiva - talmente prolisso e didascalico da farmi sbadigliare.
Non so come la pensino gli altri ma la mia idea di gioco di ruolo "nippon-style" si avvicina più ad avventure in stile manga-anime storici/in costume, che non ad una riproduzione pedissequa di ogni uso e costume del Sol Levante nell'Era dello Shogunato.
Certamente avere una conoscenza generale della storia e dei costumi è importante ai fini della simulazione ma vorrei sapere a cosa possono mai servire tutto il pantheon Shinto e Buddista, ogni singola festività e ogni annotazione socio-agricolo-economica ai fini di un'avventura.
È la stessa cosa per qualsiasi gioco fantasy: è un medioevo (o Rinascimento) FANTASTICO, non certo pedissequo della realtà, anche perché la vita a quei tempi poteva definirsi tutto fuorché avventurosa tra millemila tabù, imposizioni e quant'altro, dove la gente finiva male solo per aver guardato storto il potente di turno ergo perché mandata a crepare per le ragioni più abiette o futili in battaglie e guerre quasi per il diletto del signorotto locale e il Giappone medioevale REALISTICO è la stessa, identica cosa, anzi: pure peggio, come tra l'altro viene più e più volte sottolineato durante la lettura.
Tornando a bomba, tutte queste informazioni "essenziali" vanno a mio parere a detrimento della giocabilità e visto che (o così almeno credo) si gioca per divertirsi e non per ricreare la triste e breve vita del gioviale burino Yoshi o del buon soldato Shinichi, qui prodest?
Il resto del volume è già più interessante, da un punto di vista ludico, ma piuttosto "costipato" dal numero esiguo di pagine rimaste dopo la lunghissima dissertazione storico-socio-economica.
