About the Author
Jon Gabriel has a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. Although his background is in finance, he also pursued extensive coursework in biochemistry, organic chemistry, and biology and performed research for the internationally recognized biochemist Dr. Jose Rabinowitz. In 1990, Jon started gaining weight for no apparent reason. He tried every diet and program he could to lose weight but in the end, he just kept gaining. The more he dieted, the more he gained. The situation became critical in mid-2001 when he became morbidly obese and reached a weight of 409 pounds. He wasn’t sleeping well, could hardly reach his shoes to tie them, and had a diminished quality of life that was literally killing him with every breath.
On September 11, 2001, he was scheduled to fly from Newark to San Francisco, and it was only by a stroke of luck that he was not on the United Airlines flight 93 that was hijacked by terrorists. This event, as well as some equally life-changing events that occurred in the weeks following 9/11, affected him deeply. It was this wake-up call that made him realize life was a precious opportunity not to be wasted. He decided to start living the life of his dreams. He also decided to apply all of his research skills and scientific background toward understanding and eliminating the real reasons for why he was fat. The result is arguably one of the most remarkable physical transformations of all time. Jon lost 225 pounds without dieting and without surgery. Amazingly, his body shows almost no signs of ever being overweight at all—a fact that has astounded many professionals in the medical community.
After finishing The Gabriel Method, he used his powerful visualization techniques—the power that had brought him a new body and a new lease on life—to bring him an agent that was connected with the very publisher he wanted to work with. Countless letters from fans and those who have used his books continue to pour in, and Jon has received several awards for his work, appeared on radio and television, and continues to use his amazing story to change lives for the better. Jon is an established speaker in Australia and has done many talk shows and events there. He has previously been in contact with Oprah's producers, who had some substantial interest in the astounding message of his work.

Enter Gabriel Method. I bought this book back in January and read it, digested it, sat with it – the theory makes PERFECT sense. Regardless of your religion, ethics, or background this theory makes sense for everyone. (I mention this because I read some reviews where people were saying they “couldn’t get on board” with this method because it goes against their religion – he talks about past lives very briefly but there’s nothing preachy about it – but I say people just find nitpicky ways to avoid this journey, you truly have to DECIDE that you’re ready. I know because I was there.)
In short, John explains that our bodies are all biologically programmed to react to threats the same way we did back in caveman days: Being chased by a predator? You better be thin so you can run fast. Long cold winter coming? Gotta pack on those pounds and stay warm. These “programs” in our mind react to our modern stresses, and for some reason our bodies are thinking that fat equals safe. This theory resonated with me because I’ve always had a suspicion my fat was my own form of protection.
Here we are, in May, 3 weeks ago I finally started doing the meditations daily as you’re supposed to – morning and evening (there’s an app to listen to the meditations guided, get it!) – I think I held off for so long because I “wasn’t ready,” but after falling sick and being bed ridden I didn’t have an excuse not to try it. After a week of the meditations I felt…… good. I felt uplifted, I felt more positive, I started feeling more in control over my decisions to say “no” to hundreds of calories of snacking during my work day. I also felt less compelled to drink, binge eat, etc etc. And I have felt these feelings get stronger every day as I continue. To me that is a MASSIVE benefit, just as big as the weight loss itself. I have not weighed myself because to me, the scale takes away from what weight loss is really about – feeling good. But I will say I had a doctor’s visit this past Monday and I was several pounds lighter than the last time I weighed myself. I even had a friend tell me he thought I looked thinner. And emotionally I feel lighter too. I definitely feel change happening, and I feel like I’m in a better mindset in general. So to me that is a win.
My mother has also been doing these meditations, she came to visit me (she lives fara way) and I told her she looked thinner, she also attributes this to the Gabriel Method.
I would highly recommend this book – and please download the app with the meditations, it makes it so much easier. Remember that you have to do SOME of the work in order to lose weight – and by that I mean you need to make time to do the visualizations. I held off for so long because I was being too lazy to set aside the time to do the meditations, but after having done them for a few weeks now I can’t believe I ever saw them as inconvenient. The evening meditation you can do while laying in bed at night and I often doze off to sleep which has *not* proven to be a bad thing. In fact I am actually grateful because I have a hard time falling asleep so these have been tremendously helpful. I do the morning meditations maybe 4 out of 7 days of the week, I can’t always get my act together in the morning but I try to do it as often as I can.
Anyhoo, I hope that helped. Good luck!
I have read this book twice and I listen to the evening visualization fairly regularly. The nights I listen to the visualization my mind clears and I fall asleep without even hearing the whole thing. It's that relaxing! That is saying a lot since I'm one of those people that can have a hard time shutting down for sleep. I also seem to have an easier time making decisions and doing the right things for MY body, not just following a one-size-fits-all diet program. Some days I'm hungrier and so I eat more. Some days I'm not very hungry so I don't eat as much. Some days I crave sweets all day so I indulge and some days I only want "clean" foods. I will say as I focus on more nutritious foods my cravings are changing and I tend to want more nutritious foods since I feel so much better after eating them. I think there is something to focusing on healing an emotional and/or mental issue that may be keeping you overweight rather than just the physical. Carrying extra weight is simply a symptom and I see this approach as treating the problem not managing the symptom.
Lastly, Jon Gabriel's personal story and transformation is nothing short of amazing. The tone of his book is very motivational and understanding and seems to reflect the results of his approach. He definitely leads by example!
