Living in the Netherlands (where I’m told 90% of houses are furnished entirely from IKEA) I found this especially funny.
Overall, this was a funny little book – especially if you appreciate cringe-worthy puns like this one:
PEOPLE WHO WRITE LIKE THIS DESERVE CAPITAL PUNISHMENT.
Or, zingers to capture an Indie publisher’s heart like “I used to be a font designer. That was character building.”
My only complaints are that, like the first book in this series, it’s definitely adult only and at least partly British specific. About 5% of the jokes involve British dialect or cultural references that Americans may not get, like A-levels, GCSEs, and Duncan Goodhew.
Beyond the scattered Viagra and vajazzle jokes, there’s a “mounting” joke that really pushes the boundaries. I rather hope this writer eventually puts together a family friendly joke collection. I think the grandkids would really appreciate jokes like, “I saw The Curious Case of Benjamin Button last night. It was like watching paint get wet.”
There are some risqué ones, so I advise exercising caution before buying the book for your prudish auntie or for younger members of the family. Otherwise, a great birthday or Christmas gift.
Gagged & Bound 2 is fresh and funny. I enjoyed the clever puns and witty drawings. As an American I found some of the humor to be specifically British, but this didn't take away from the overall mood. It is a great collection of light-hearted humor and one-liners that I would recommend for an afternoon read or just for a few laughs on a busy day.
It has intelligent pun lines and short jokes. The reader can open any page for an instant, refreshing read to find chuckle and laughter on the way ! Though the humour of this book is very English, one can understand and enjoy most of the content.
It is a small book packed with lots of fun ! Good work Nick !
