The Gaggia Anima Deluxe is the second machine in the Anima series. The Deluxe is a super-automatic espresso machine that wraps over 75 years of espresso making experience in an elegant design that blends modernity and tradition.
CAPPUCCINATORE: To prepare specialty milk drinks, the Anima Deluxe uses an auto-frothing Cappuccinatore which siphons and froths milk directly from a container and dispenses it into your cup. There is a dedicated button located on the front of the machine to activate the frothing cycle and produce rich, creamy milk foam. The Cappuccinatore can also be used to dispense hot water for drinks like a Cafe Americano or hot tea.
SLEEK DESIGN: The Anima Deluxe sets itself apart from the plastic housing found on machines in the same price range with striking stainless steel front paneling. The machine is has a slim profile (less than 9 inches wide), intuitive buttons, and an LED display.
PROGRAMMABLE: The Gaggia Anima Deluxe drink buttons can be programmed with your preferred beverage volume, strength, pre-infusion, and temperature (Min/177.5 °F, Med/182.9 °F, Max/184.5 °F). You are also able to choose between using whole bean or pre-ground coffee.
LARGE CAPACITY: The Anima Deluxe has a 60oz removable water reservoir and an 8.8oz bean hopper. The drip tray can hold up to 24oz of water and the internal dreg bin can hold up to 15 pucks of spent coffee.
EASY MAINTENANCE: The machine features a removable brew unit as well as an automatic rinse and descale cycle. The integrated milk carafe uses an automatic cleaning cycle to keep the milk circuit clean.
LOW-ENERGY STANDBY MODE: After one hour of idle time, the Anima Deluxe will enter a low energy (-1 W) standby mode to reduce power consumption.

The first machine showed up from Amazon, and I was happy with the purchase. It made great espresso, and I liked ease of frothing milk. Then after having it for about a month, the grinder stopped working. I tried everything to troubleshoot, but no avail. Amazon was great about the return - they sent a replacement and I shipped back the broken one.
The new one was great for about six weeks. It made great espresso, too. And as a note, there was a part over the grinder that my first machine didn't have. But then it started leaking from the front - a lot. I cleaned and greased the brew group, but nothing seemed to work, and the leaking got worse. I'd lose about a third of a shot with each draw down the front of the machine.
So that one went back to Amazon, and now I'm trying to decide which machine should replace it. It won't be an Anima, that's for sure.
Two stars for great coffee, and a no-hassle return process.
Machine arrived on time, and well packed. Set up was pretty easy. Clean up is also easy. I tend to do the weekly cleaning on a bi-weekly basis and that hasn't caused it to malfunction so far. I descale when the machine prompts me, and only use purified water I get from the store.
I roast most of my own beans to medium-dark, and the espresso that comes out is smooooooth!!!
My one pet peace I had and the reason I took a star off is because of the steaming wand. The one that comes with it really doesn't produce that nice thick dense foam. I used to work for Starbucks, so I know how to steam milk and what a decent foam speed to look like. But after doing a quick research, I found that Whole latte love.com sells a steam wand attachment for less than $20 that does a much better job. The one that came with the machine somehow produces bubbly type of foam. So if you can't get it right, know that it may not be user error.
All in all, it's a great fully automatic espresso machine. It's worked well with me using everyday 3-5times a day for the last 6 months. What else could you ask for at this price range. Thank you Gaggia!
