Shosh Pinkas was born in Tel Aviv, Israel. She is a mother of two adult sons, grandmother of twin girls.

In 2012, her granddaughters, Gal and Noa, were born to her son Itay and his partner Yoav, through the process of surrogacy.

She has been with her granddaughters since they were two days old, and it fills her with joy and happiness.

'Gal and Noa's Daddies' is her first book.

Like Gal and Noa, my two girls have two daddies and were born via surrogacy in India. At four and a half, they're starting to ask questions about their origins -- they know they were born in India and have figured out that mommies carry babies in their tummies and that daddies don't (this, after they announced to us about a year ago that I had carried one and my husband the other!). So it seemed time to get a book explaining how they entered the world, and I was excited to come across this book on Amazon. While I love the artwork and the sweet story of how and why "Grandma Shosh" Pinkas came to write the story, "Gal and Noa's Daddies" fell short for a couple of reasons. The rhyming scheme is awkward (possibly due to the translation from the original Hebrew), but the most serious shortcoming was the negative way the story starts out -- with classmates teasing the girls about having two daddies, saying that "boys can't marry boys." While this unfortunately may be the case in many places, it's not something my children have encountered -- for them and even for their classmates, having two mommies or two daddies is just another kind of family and perfectly normal. If and when they do meet up with someone who calls their family structure into question, I'll explain it to them. While this book may be useful for some same-sex parents, for us it veers too far off course into issues that were decided here years ago.

The story is simple and includes aspects every child can understand and identify with. The rhymes are pretty and the illustrations lovely.

As a good children's book should, this book takes a seemingly complicated issue and organizes it to be what it really is - a simple, lovely story about a family.

I brought this book to my daughters kindergarten, to their teachers and to their friends and it enabled an easy conversation full of interest but without embarrassment.

Get one and you can make this world a tiny bit better.

"Gal and Noa's Daddies" is an interesting and informative book for children as well as for adults, especially for those who aren't familiar with the surrogacy process and the reality of same sex parenting. It is written in a simple way and gives very good answers for many of the questions young children to gay fathers may ask.

I find this book a usueful and important tool which can help in making the society understand that same sex parenting is an acceptable, a normal and a legitimate way of life.
