About the Author

The author amounts to nothing more than a sinner saved by grace. By grace he served in the Marine Corps for over twenty-one years as a tank officer, with two combat tours in Iraq, awarded the Bronze Star and three Meritorious Service Medals. By grace he completed his Bachelor of Science in Engineering Physics and his Master's in Business Administration. By grace he is married to a loving and faithful wife, with five beautiful children. And by grace, he prays, his labor in this book may encourage the persecuted church. Semper Christo Fidelis!

As a reader, author, and Christian, I have varying opinions on this book based on my differing viewpoints. Overall, as a simple reader enjoying a book, it was a gripping and enjoyable read. Though a bit slow at first and weighed down with military jargon, by the time I was a third of the way through I couldn't put it down and finished it all in one chunk. Muller's writing style is very minimal and straightforward. He gives enough detail that you can easily paint a picture, yet he doesn't weigh things down with flowery language. The pace moved quickly and the story was very well structured. I can't wait to read the next book in the series!

As a writer myself, I couldn't help analyzing Muller's writing style and found his lack of character depth somewhat annoying, but realize that it is only partially a lack (he is, after all, a first time author), and partially Muller's writing style. As a published author, one of my focuses is the thoughts and feelings of the characters, and I like making them layers upon layers deep. Muller's characters are all very face-value. They are rather stereotypical and predictable, all except perhaps Captain Krighter, the protagonist, who has some mysterious backstory and a bit more depth which I am eager to learn about. That is not to say that the characters weren't likeable or enjoyable to read about, we just didn't get to see much of their personal motivations, their backstory, etc. I realize this is partially because the book as a whole is focused on HISTORY not people. It is a plot driven, not character driven, tale. Muller's writing style, as I said, is very descriptive and straightforward. I think he has much room for improvement as a writer, but he already has a strong start with a gripping writing style.

I started reading this because the man who wrote it Col. Michael Mullet is the commander of my CAP squadron, but once I got into it a could not put it down, it reads I. The same fashion as Knox's Irregulars, which is one of the highest praises I can bestow, the beauty of the story line, the twists and turns as you get deeper, I would recommend this book for anyone young or old.

I really enjoyed reading this book! This is well written and very easy to read. Even though I do not have a military background, I was able to easily follow all of the military scenes. The is a great book and it definitely left me wanting to read the follow up books to this trilogy.

When I started reading the book, I wasn't' too impressed.. But the more I read and realizing it was teaching about my Lord and Savior, I became more interested. By the end of the book, I didn't want it to end. Very good read. Thanks to my son for loaning me the book.
