When I attached this device to my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 the 30 pin connector was a bit tight. I then plugged my USB thumb drive into the device and got an error message. Unfortunately the message disappeared before I could read it so I grasped the black part of the 30 pin connector, gave it a pull, and the wire and cap came off into my hand leaving the connector in the tablet. I did manage to remove the connector by teasing in out with my fingernails. The black connector cover is held in place by two tiny plastic hooks. I think that this cover should be molded to or at least glued to the connector.

I cannot recommend this device.

Of course, I can transfer data into my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2.0 10.1" tablet the old-fashioned way that is a bother. I can procedurally dismount my micro SD card, place it in an adapter, and add or subtract files on another computer. When that's done, I remount my SD card procedurally and carefully and enjoy the card's amended or modified contents. Method 2 is to transfer data from other devices to my tablet via Bluetooth. That seems to be very slow when I'm shooting picture files between machines. With no mounting or dismounting of cards and without painfully impaired speed of Bluetooth transfer, I move data from USB drives directly into my tablet with this highly convenient tool that I obtained for a very nice price.

Don't bother ordering if you have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1, it doesn't read anything that is USB device. I've tried all types of items (i.e. an external 2TB hard drive, a 500MB external hard drive, several USB flash drives ranging from 2GB up to 64GB), nothing was read. I was hoping that I would be able to use this dongle to be able to read my 2TB external hard drive so that I wouldn't have to lug around my 17" laptop, as I go on a lot of business trips. Please save your money, don't buy this item. I'm still searching for a USB dongle that will work with my SG Tab 2 10.1. I ordered another and I should get it tomorrow (July 9, 2013), I'll keep you updated if it works or not.

This is a great adapter. One of my beef's with the Samsung tablets is the 30-pin connector. Everything else of mine uses the mini usb. This adapter was instantly recognized by my Note 10.1 and acts like a normal USB for charging, mounting accessories and storage. I will be using it for travel and leaving the long cord that only charges behind.

Just remember that your flash drive cannot be read if it's formatted as NTFS... a fact I keep forgetting, and a weakness of Android, not of this device. At first I thought the device didn't work, until I remembered it has to be formatted as FAT for Droid to read it.
