The Original Jackass Rig" was reintroduced for Galco International’s 30th Anniversary. Galco’s predecessor, "The Famous Jackass Leather Company," first introduced this shoulder system in 1970. It features a horizontal holster that can be adjusted to a more diagonal carry position than our Miami Classic or MCII, attaching to the harness with our patented swivel connectors. The ammo carrier has a streamlined yet secure design, while the premium Center Cut Steerhide harness provides unparalleled concealment opportunities, greater adjustment and comfort. All four points of the center cut steerhide harness can pivot independently and are connected by our unique clover-shaped Flexalon swivel back plate, which is a Galco trademark. The Jackass Rig includes holster, harness, ammo carrier and a set of system screws. The Jackass Rig is fully modular, and optional accessories and components may be purchased separately. Made for semiautomatic pistols, the Jackass Rig is available in right hand draw in havana brown finish.

Because of the upward muzzle angle, you can easily conceal large frame handguns with this rig, ideal for concealed permit holders who don't want to sacrifice by carrying smaller weapons. Due to the upward angle, however, it can be tricky to draw if needed, while sitting or in a car. For this, I would recommend a Galco Miami Classic series because they are horizontal carry.
All in all, this is extremely well made and very comfortable to wear, even with full size steel guns.
One thing, the retention screw on the holster itself does tend to come loose after a few draws. The screw has a rubber bushing inside that rides against the trigger guard to keep it tight fitting, but since there is a retention strap in the rear to hold the gun in by the slide, this screw system might not be necessary for you if you can deal without. It is more in case your strap comes undone, so that the gun doesn't just fall out. I tried clear nail polish on the threads, but it doesn't hold. You can try loctite, but if you do, use blue or purple, NOT RED. The screw is not metal, and red loctite is permanent for heavy duty use such as engine head bolts.
I purchased the Galco JR212H "Jackass Rig" for concealed carry use with my Officer's size 1911 pistol.
The 'center cut' leather of the shoulder straps is a non-issue so far, and works fine. Instructions included with the rig are adequate, but a minimum of searching online will yield additional, useful information to help get the rig adjusted. It took several wearings to get the straps adjusted...you will probably want to try them different ways before settling on the way that works best for you. I spent some time softening the holster leather using the technique described in the instructions, which seemed to work.
Be sure, as the instructions recommend, to check the screws and fasteners often to make sure they do not loosen up and fall out...it can happen, especially as the rig is loosening up and breaking in.
I have been happy with the concealability of the muzzle up orientation provided by the Jackass Rig. This would be even more important with a longer pistol. Muzzle up orientation makes it a bit harder to get a grip on the pistol compared to the level orientation of the Miami Classic, however, so that is the tradeoff.
So far I am using the holster regularly and am very happy with it.
Pretty great for carrying a full size 1911 with an extended clip and two spare mags.
(Because I'm not planning on having any bad days, know what I mean?)
I took some trying to get it cinched up the way I need to get it to be comfortable AND concealable AND easy to draw from.
but I think I've gotten it figured out now.
I pretty much took it as high as I could bear and then let the back out one notch and the front out two.
(Had a heck of a time finding anyone talking about wearing one of these.. guess the trend kind of died with Miami Vice)
