The Original Jackass Rig" was reintroduced for Galco International’s 30th Anniversary. Galco’s predecessor, "The Famous Jackass Leather Company," first introduced this shoulder system in 1970. It features a horizontal holster that can be adjusted to a more diagonal carry position than our Miami Classic or MCII, attaching to the harness with our patented swivel connectors. The ammo carrier has a streamlined yet secure design, while the premium Center Cut Steerhide harness provides unparalleled concealment opportunities, greater adjustment and comfort. All four points of the center cut steerhide harness can pivot independently and are connected by our unique clover-shaped Flexalon swivel back plate, which is a Galco trademark. The Jackass Rig includes holster, harness, ammo carrier and a set of system screws. The Jackass Rig is fully modular, and optional accessories and components may be purchased separately. Made for semiautomatic pistols, the Jackass Rig is available in right hand draw in havana brown finish.

I purchased the Galco JR212H "Jackass Rig" for concealed carry use with my Officer's size 1911 pistol.
The 'center cut' leather of the shoulder straps is a non-issue so far, and works fine. Instructions included with the rig are adequate, but a minimum of searching online will yield additional, useful information to help get the rig adjusted. It took several wearings to get the straps adjusted...you will probably want to try them different ways before settling on the way that works best for you. I spent some time softening the holster leather using the technique described in the instructions, which seemed to work.
Be sure, as the instructions recommend, to check the screws and fasteners often to make sure they do not loosen up and fall out...it can happen, especially as the rig is loosening up and breaking in.
I have been happy with the concealability of the muzzle up orientation provided by the Jackass Rig. This would be even more important with a longer pistol. Muzzle up orientation makes it a bit harder to get a grip on the pistol compared to the level orientation of the Miami Classic, however, so that is the tradeoff.
So far I am using the holster regularly and am very happy with it.
I had some simple minor assembly to do and after some adjustments it positioned where i wanted it to.
The leather is very good, but was stiff and difficult to place ny 1911 kimber 45 in and out. I used saddle soap and immediately softened the leather and with leaving the weapon in the holster for a short time i can now remove and replace the weapon with no issues at all.
The leather is thick saddle leather. I thought you just can't get this quality of Leather in commercial products anymore, but I was wrong.
Your Pistol must be Fitted to the Holster, it takes several days, almost a week to "Break In" your holster. Just follow the directions for fitting that comes with the holster. Using a plastic bag works well(per the instructions), I had to do it for three nights before the holster fit was PERFECT.
Fitting the holster to your body also takes a few days, but the end result(a secure comfortable fit) is well worth the time spent.
I love the way it fits my body. I don't even use the tie downs most of the time.
After breaking in, I am able to carry my 1911 5' in Condition One, Two or Three with no problems at all.
Although the holster is only rated to carry in C3.
I don't think there is a CC holster in the world that will fully conceal a 1911 full sized(5'), but this holster is about as close to fully concealed as your going to get, IMO.
UPDATE October 2013: After using this holster for several months now, I still like it... However, I have found one thing that I do not like and is causing me to look at another Holster.
The strap leather is Suede. I find the suede tends to stick and hang on my shirts, causing me to have to adjust the holster on a regular basis (every few minutes if I am actively moving around). In my opinion the holster would have been better if the leather straps were made with a slick or polished surface so they would slide and move with your body and not have to be constantly adjusted.
