UPDATE: After almost exactly two years with this thing, it finally cracked. A tiny crack, about half an inch long, formed about half an inch from the bottom. Just enough for a small trickle of a leak, nothing catastrophic, but I'll need to replace it. I was nowhere near gentle with this through the course of its life, often carelessly tossing it into my car while completely full. Other than that, it has survived dozens of drops onto hard surfaces. For the price, I'm still extremely satisfied with it and won't hesitate order another if I don't decide to cough up some extra cash for a 64oz Kleen Kanteen (or two).
How I use it: I fill up about 1/4 of it with water, cap it, and throw it in the freezer. Then in the morning, I fill the rest up with water, throw in my BCAA's and take it to work. Not sure how the bottle will last with my freezing every night, but it's cheap enough to replace if necessary.
I did drop it once and the cap (which looked and felt cheap) cracked immediately. Luckily, I found a cap from a bottle of salad dressing (yes, salad dressing) that fit better and was more durable. I think you'll be able to find caps that fit, should the cap break, if you look around.
It's not leakproof, but I'm not finding it to leak at all, even when I lay it sideways.
