I was lucky to receive an ARC but I’m buying more because this is a story I’m excited to share with young, impressionable readers. It is well written and shows that true connections and loving relationships occur in line with God’s standard for physical intimacy.
Stastny’s style and word choice quickly drew me in to the characters and the tempo of the story. I was emotionally connected to the characters, their quirks, their thoughts and their young-dumb choices. Young love, relationship mismatch, unpredictable, tragic twists that could ruin the hoped-for outcome are exactly what Stastny is able to use to beautifully weave an engaging tale of hope, connection and love.
Yep, it’s a good one!
Meridee and Parker attend the same college. He is a football star and she is a self-imposed wallflower. She does find him attractive, but he doesn't see her. A run-in between Meridee, Parker, and orange chicken send them on the path to HEA. However, as in most stories, there are a lot of bumps along the way. Parker is dating a cheerleader (shallow, Barbie style) and Meridee has a bad history with men (well, really one, but he was slimy). Eventually, Parker realizes Barbie is shallow and Meridee is not. Meridee eventually realizes not all men are takers.
This was a nice, easy kind of read. If you have a couple of hours - Enjoy.
