This series of books does not teach anything in depth. The contents are entirely superficial descriptions -- the sort of information found from a google search. Many of the sections are little more than a short description of the topic. There is no in-depth discussion of actual mechanics, implementation decisions a designer needs to consider, or even examples of good and bad implementations. There is no significant discussion of any topic. Most Wikipedia articles go into more depth than the sections in these books.
These are great if you THINK you are interested in game design and you want to know what sorts of topics and skills you will need to master if you choose this route as a career. If you are already interested in game design and have done any learning on your own (reading, YouTube, etc), then you are already past 99% of everything in this book series.
This book / series is best suited for children aged 9 - 11 that have little or no game design knowledge and want to learn about the topic.
