Looking at the cover one would think cute fun sports romance, right? Wrong! More like romantic drama and a disappointment. Kyra Lennon is a new author to me and this bk evidently is the first in a series. I had no problems with the writing or editing, I even liked most of the characters, just had no love for the H/h. The Hero, Radleigh, is the star soccer player for his team. This guy is such a womanizing, arrogant, conceded jerk that other than his roomie/buddy, there's no one on the team that can stand him. His soccer playing abilities and being the fans favorite are his only saving grace. One of the comments from a female side character is that she's sure he screams his own name during sex. (Endearing, right?) Because he's such a jerk and so confident in his position on the team, he's run off several people employed by the team. Not a pretty picture. The heroine, Leah who I had high hopes for, is a feisty little (5'2" tall) transplant from England who works as a physiotherapist for this American soccer team. She shuts down Radleigh's come on's at most every turn. Radleigh is more than disappointed that Leah doesn't fall for his bullying charm. So disappointed in fact that he reports her to the owner of the team for attitude hoping to get her in trouble. I want you, I can't have you so I'll get rid of you - such a prince of a guy, not only is the guy a jerk but an out and out liar as is demonstrated more than once in the story. Feeling the love for this Hero? Radleigh/Leah fight during the bk right up until the last few paragraphs. It's when the fighting starts to turn Leah's thoughts into "oh, but he's hot, I want him" I wanted to throw the bk. Early on in the story Leah falls for Miguel, one of the coaches on the team, and they trade I love you's.Read more ›

Leah Walker leaves her miserable past behind her to find a new life in the U.S. She lands a fabulous job and gains some even better friends. She happier than she's ever been until the gorgeous Radleigh McCoy propositions her. He might be a big soccer star, but his ego is even bigger. Leah doesn't want any men like that in her life. She's determined to not let him get under her skin, but he manages to get in a lot further. When her happy world crashes down around her, Leah has to find the strength to face the truth within herself or let mistakes from her past come back to defeat her again.

GAME ON is a contemporary romance which isn't a genre I usually read, but Kyra Lennon won me over. It was a fun story that made me laugh out loud. The biggest draw of this novel for me is the characters. There's a cast of vivid personalities, and I feel I now have a new group of good friends in them. Leah is a smart and strong protagonist. She's stubborn and witty, a lot like many other heroines, but she has a past that is full of mistakes that I know several real women make. It was easy to sympathize with her and get pulled into her life. I was caught up in her whirlwind of emotions, feeling every heartache, embarrassment, and joy with her. Radleigh is the egotistical alpha male. And yet there's something about him that draws you to him. It's in the little details that Kyra adds in so well. The secondary characters - Jesse, Freya, Will, Bree, Bryce, Josh, Christina - are just as memorable. I can't wait to see what Kyra has in store for them!

On top of the awesome characterization, there's great writing. Kyra makes it look easy to spin an engrossing tale of romance. Friends, family, and love. You'll find yourself quickly wrapped up in GAME ON, and you won't be able to put it down until you find out which team wins at the end.

This is a story of redemption of two people who have had too many one night stands in their lives. Both Leah and Radleigh have past/present types of love and leave them. She is in the US working with a soccer team as a therapist, she want to redeem her past. She was not happy with herself and her past mistakes. But due to living in a small town in UK she needs to distance her self to become a better person. She knows the type of personallity that she sees in Radleigh and calls him on it, several times. There is chemistry between them but will it be enough to over come the stigma that he carries and she is trying to forget? This is about the relationship between them and the conflict of outside persons who want to hurt them. Can they over come the adversties that are thrown at them and still be able to love or show love to the other? Kyra Lennon was able to write this for the average reader with no sports knowledge and still feel the angst there. Will look into more of her works later.

Leah moved to the United States from the UK to escape a not so pleasant past with love.

Radleigh is the I'm-so-hot-I'm-gods-gift-to-women soccer God.

Radleigh and Leah work together, he's on the team and she's a physiotherapist for the team. They are always at each other's throat. After a weekend spent in Boston they each find their feelings are not so much hatred for each other but something else. Some miscommunication causes Leah to quit and move back to the UK. After a game brings Radleigh and the team to the UK they both see that there's no other way to be than to be together!!

I really enjoyed reading this book! It was filled with both laughs and love!
