This may be a happily ending book; I won't use H.E.A. just because their story has the potential to go so much further, but it was down to the wire. Two stubborn people living in the shell that keep their hearts safe, they have to learn actually to say what the feel before anything gets resolved.
Lean is part of the team behind the scenes of the soccer team as the physiotherapist. From the beginning, she and Radleigh are like fire and oil. They incite each other to a height of aggravation and at times passion.
A one night stand that could either save or end Radleigh's career is the turning point of a relationship that is explosive and profound. At the risk of her own career does Lean take the plunge and help Radleigh with the accusations that arise from a team mate's girlfriend?
When the passion gets to rough, and it looks as if she's just another notch in a sting of rumors, Lean returns home...
Spoilers dear, so we'll move to the Pros and Cons.
I loved the characters. Even the minor characters were different and quirky. Kyra Lennon does a good job of relaying information without making the reader feel like an idiot. Things build on each other to reveal Lena's past and her thoughts in the present. I thoroughly enjoyed how she gave Lena a real world problem, and it results in Lena being prickly on the outside like a cactus.
Did I mention I love Radleigh's name? Swoon-worthy.
There were a few, and they were far in-between. There are a few instances when the missing dialogue tag makes it hard to figure out who's talking. I only noted three times in a 3-hour read. On a few occasions, the blend of scenes wasn't smooth. Either a scene break or even a new chapter would have solved it.
GAME ON is a contemporary romance which isn't a genre I usually read, but Kyra Lennon won me over. It was a fun story that made me laugh out loud. The biggest draw of this novel for me is the characters. There's a cast of vivid personalities, and I feel I now have a new group of good friends in them. Leah is a smart and strong protagonist. She's stubborn and witty, a lot like many other heroines, but she has a past that is full of mistakes that I know several real women make. It was easy to sympathize with her and get pulled into her life. I was caught up in her whirlwind of emotions, feeling every heartache, embarrassment, and joy with her. Radleigh is the egotistical alpha male. And yet there's something about him that draws you to him. It's in the little details that Kyra adds in so well. The secondary characters - Jesse, Freya, Will, Bree, Bryce, Josh, Christina - are just as memorable. I can't wait to see what Kyra has in store for them!
On top of the awesome characterization, there's great writing. Kyra makes it look easy to spin an engrossing tale of romance. Friends, family, and love. You'll find yourself quickly wrapped up in GAME ON, and you won't be able to put it down until you find out which team wins at the end.
Radleigh is the I'm-so-hot-I'm-gods-gift-to-women soccer God.
Radleigh and Leah work together, he's on the team and she's a physiotherapist for the team. They are always at each other's throat. After a weekend spent in Boston they each find their feelings are not so much hatred for each other but something else. Some miscommunication causes Leah to quit and move back to the UK. After a game brings Radleigh and the team to the UK they both see that there's no other way to be than to be together!!
I really enjoyed reading this book! It was filled with both laughs and love!
