Elli was a foster child and she used to sneak into Dex's room at night to get away from her foster dad. Dex grew to love her as a teenager but then Elli disappeared.
Years later Elli is returning home to get away from her old life and start fresh.
Dex still thinks of Elli and always leaves his window open holding she will crawl back through it.
He sees her in a bar and has to go see if it is really her. It is and Elli can't believe that he is there. They talk and says she has to go meet up with her friend who she is planning on staying with.
Elli leaves like she always did back then but that night something happens with the roommate and once again she's roaming the streets and ends up at Dex's.
She has a past she can't seem to get away from and all Dex wants to do is love her but Elli keeps running. He is hoping they can get past the past and find a future together.
Dex Remington is a computer programmer and a game developer. He has always guarded his heart as if he was wearing a protective shield. Ever since he was a teenager he has had feelings for Ellie. He could have any woman he desires but he only wants the one that got away, a friend from childhood who came back into his life briefly four years earlier. He feels like she’s the only person who ever truly understood him or saw him for himself and not the millionaire he’s become.
The last time they saw each other was four years ago when Dex declared his love to her and she ran away as fast as the wind could take her. Even now Dex can’t deny how much he loves Ellie but he struggles to trust her ability to stay when life unsettles her.
Dex and Ellie face their demons and touch each other’s hearts. We are introduced to the Remington family Dex’s twin sister Siena and brothers Sage, Kurt, Jack and Rush.

So we have Dex (Dexy lol) and Ellie, childhood friends that have been separated by life’s sharp turns.
I want to start with Dex, because seriously, THANK YOU Melissa foster, thank you. Finally a billionaire that makes freaking sense! I don’t know about you guys, but I am always amazed at how many billionaires there are in the romance world (apparently millions are no longer enough, although if I was single and a hot millionaire was asking me out, I would be totally cool with it.), and NO ONE has a clue what their business is, how they did it (in like 3 years, because no one is over 30). His issues are REALISITIC!!! Dex is totally relatable, his wealth is a product of his intelligence, and his struggles are easy to understand, and the resolutions are believable.
And let’s not forget Ellie. A product of the system, her psyche is not only understandable, but also well explained. Not just, “Oh, I’m a foster kid. No one loves me. Let’s be really vague.” Nope, there is none of that; just plain old important details without ignorant fluff.
This book is a solid 4.5 star book.
