In this hilarious and heartwarming family comedy, one of the sport's toughest players ever takes on his biggest challenge yet -- fatherhood! A superstar with an ego bigger than a football field, Joe Kingman (Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson) is getting ready for a run at the big championship game when the 8-year-old daughter he never knew existed shows up at his not-so-family-friendly bachelor pad. As the big game gets closer, he begins to realize the most meaningful win he can achieve is the heart of the one little fan who counts the most.
"When you look at me, what do you see?" pontificates football star Joe Kingman, then provides the answer: "Greatness." Well, clearly an ego like that needs to be brought down to size--pint-size. The winning family comedy The Game Plan has a whole lot going for it, including star Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, who's a natural comedic actor (and the camera loves him), and the young actress (Madison Pettis) who plays the daughter he didn't know he had, Peyton. The plot doesn't break much new ground, since many films have mined the territory of the self-indulgent child-adult who suddenly "inherits" a child (from Three Men and a Baby to Baby Boom to Big Daddy to Raising Helen). But thanks to the charismatic performance of Johnson, the film is winsome and uplifting. Johnson's comic timing and straight-man face are spot-on, as is his warm chemistry with the sweet-faced Pettis. Also giving notable performances are the lovely Roselyn Sanchez as Peyton's ballet teacher, and Kyra Sedgwick as Kingman's hard-nosed agent who's aghast at the appearance of an out-of-wedlock child. Children and adults both can enjoy the movie's warm-and-fuzzy moral of making family where you find it--or where it finds you. --A.T. Hurley

Children are a result of actions by two people that results in a third. But the child of that union has a right to know where he/she comes from. Children can melt hearts and effect change like nothing else I have seen. They also help adults grow to become better people. I just wish they had shown us what it was like after the game and a little bit of their new life. Sounds like a Game Plan 2. I am sure that this little girl can add drama to their lives. Refreshing film to see good guy win it all.
On this film, he plays a selfish football player who discovers that he has a young daughter (played by Madison Pettis) by his ex-wife. From there, comedic chaos reigns as we get one funny event after another which sees Dwayne's character change from selfish football player into a man that wants to be a part of his daughter's life. Morris Chestnut (who plays one of Dwayne's few friends and teammate) also plays a pivitol role in this film. Roselyn Sanchez (Rush Hour 2) and Kyra Sedgwick (The Closer) also stars in this comedy.
I originally got this as a gift for my mom BUT I ended up watching it for myself and will buy this film for me one day! Its a very good comedy. While I am an action junkie type, some good and clean (for the most part) comedy is good for the soul here and there. High recommendation.
