Editorial Reviews

Being the wife or girlfriend of a pro-football player might sound like a glamorous and stress-free existence, but Melanie Barnett (Tia Mowry) is about to discover the truth. Melanie’s boyfriend, Derwin, is the new third-string wide receiver for the San Diego Sabers. While Derwin worries about the plays on the field, Melanie learns about the power plays that NFL wives use to get their men the best agents, managers, endorsements, merchandising deals and even the “in” charity. As she deals with egos, groupies and image consultants, Melanie is finding out how “the game” is played among the women behind the athletes.

Just heard on the radio that BET has picked up the rights to THE GAME and will be producing more new episodes. They are set to start this fall (yay!). They have signed contracts with all the original actors and actresses with the exception of one, the character known as Jason. He is currently a regular on Burn Notice so he will probably just do guest appearances.

I only have seasons one and two and plan to purchase three as well. The only thing I that I didn't like was that they changed the music. The songs on the show went so well with whatever was going on so I was disappointed that they changed songs on the DVD. Otherwise than that I love this show and can't wait to see the season premiere for season 4 on January 11, 2001

I have all 3 seasons. The first two i bought from a retail store and this 3rd season I bought from amazon since I couldnt find it in any store for some reason. The show has a very good plot and very good actors. Sometimes I think the ppl in this show are really like this in real life. Thats how good it is. But don't buy this season without first watching the first 2 seasons.

I'm so glad they are releasing all 3 season's of The Game. One of the best african american shows in a long time, only second to Girlfriends.

I truly wish that this show had stayed on the air, but since it didn't I will relish in the fact that all of the seasons of the show are now available on DVD. Script writing was superb that truly touched on real issues that go on in today's relationships. Would have loved to have seen how things worked out with Mel and Derwin in their new marriage AND his new baby, and how about Kelly's jealousy over Jason's new lover.....why did they have to leave us hanging like that -- just thinking about it got me pissed all over again!!!! :o)

I'm not really a sitcom fan. Laugh tracks irritate me to no end. The last good comedy I remember regularly watching was four years ago with "Sons & Daughters." So I wasn't sure what to expect when I started watching "The Game," except for that I wanted a Coby Bell fix after being impressed by him on "Burn Notice."

Surprisingly, I quickly fell in love with the show. It's not reinventing the comedy wheel, but it is legitimately funny, and very well cast (if you have any doubt, watch the original pilot with "Leverage" star Aldis Hodge as Derwin and a different actress playing Kelly, the latter of whom is absolutely dreadful). I've laughed and I even was touched in certain episodes, like "The Fall of the Roman," when Jason comes to Kelly's rescue from her ex-boyfriend, or when Derwin sees Melanie find her perfect wedding dress and pine over the fact that she can't afford.

My only regret is I'd love to see more special features on the DVDs. I have a feeling the gag reel would be hilarious, and some cast commentaries would have been neat.

I'm glad there will be a fourth season. Now if they'd only get Jason and Kelly back together...

In general, I LOVE THE GAME! The last season before they decided to rekindle it was good, but I thought the writing was a bit weird. I had to adjust to the absence of an audience/laugh track. Nevertheless, you must have all seasons in your collection!

IM SAD THAT THIS MIGHT BE THE LAST SEASON BECAUSE THIS WAS A GREAT SHOW. IT SHOWS THE STRUGGLES OF YOUNG COUPLES TRYING TO COME UP AND MAKE IT. THE GAME IS ROMANTIC, SWEET, FUNNY, AND TACKLES SOME SERIOUS ISSUES AS WELL. I HAVE ENJOYED EVERY MINUTE OF THIS SEASON AND THE PREVIOUS ONES AS WELL AND SO WILL YOU.
