This review will only be for my opinion of the season overall, and the packaging, extras, and video/audio quality.

Let me start by saying that Game of Thones is one of my favorite shows of all-time. The story is brutal and tragic, yet engrossing and compelling. The characters are wonderfully written, and everything from character motivations to the dialogue and action sequences are superb. The show also has top notch production values, as the environment, props, and wardrobes look magnificent. GOT is a beauty.

The packaging is awesome, as it has been on all of the season blu rays. The discs are in flip book, which go into a sleeve, which has a paper sleeve over top of it all. This season has black and brown artwork, which looks lovely. Very happy with the packaging. The insert also has a complete character guide, breaking down the different families/houses, and a full map of Westeros. Very cool!

All 10 episodes this season are included on 5 blu rays. Extras include a complete guide to Westeros, making of featurette, in episode guides, histories and lore, audio commentaries, deleted scenes, and a plethora of behind the scenes featurettes.

The episodes look amazing on blu ray. The 1080p really shines on this series, and everything look breathtakingly beautiful. The characters, scenery, wardrobes, etc all look excellent. The 5.1 audio is great too. The score is brilliant and the metal swords and armor clanging sound great. Sound and Video are easy 10/10.

Overall this is an excellent 1st season in this great series. I enjoyed every episode, and always recommend this show to anyone I talk to about movies/tv. What else can I say? Game of Thrones gets my highest recommendation, and the blu ray sets are glorious. This is the best show on television, in my humble opinion.

I'm about 59 episodes behind, and the next season begins day after tomorrow. But every journey begins with the first step, and I just watched episode 1, "Winter is Coming." It was very well done with high production standards. It's also very brutal, as an early beheading showed. After just one episode, it's clear that the storyline will be much more complex than what was revealed in the episode.

I'll give it five stars for the acting and the production quality, but there's a bit too much violence, nudity, and explicit sex for me. I doubt if I'll be going on with the series.

Actually I just started watching last fall and binged watched all 6 seasons.....I wanted to know what the big deal was....I ALMOST did not get through the first season because there was SO MUCH pornography and violence...rape and slitting the horse throat really threw me over the edge. However, with that being said, I did finish it because the story is phenomenal, the sets are amazing, the costumes are breath taking....and the acting is well pretty darn good...I was disappointed with the unnecessary pornographic sex and extreme violence. The story is so great and a lot of those situations could be "implied" rather than camera in your face stuff. I thought HBO could have told the story without all the graphic violence and still maintained a phenomenal fantastical story. It could have been right up there with Lord of the Rings.....Unfortunately they chose to cheapen it. I'm still going to watch it though and have nervous breakdowns and switch it off when my daughter walks in the room.

I know that I am so late to watching the phenomena that is Game of Thrones. For whatever reason, I finally decided to start watching episodes 1 to 7 of Game of Thrones after being intrigued by Emilia Clarke’s courage in admitting what she went through emotionally when she discovered that some people were judging her for some of the scenes that she did in Games of Thrones Season 1. I am in the process of learning more about courage and improving on my bravery and so I took a chance on starting to watch episodes one to seven, with my intent to finish watching the last 3 episodes this week. I admit that what I have watched so far has me interested in either purchasing each season individually in digital form or a box set within the next 9 months or less and to catch up to Season 7 by around October/November at the latest or sooner. My husband’s favorite character from the show is Tyrion Lannister. Despite the character of Tyrion coming from a violent and controversial family, I can see why my husband feels this way as the character of Tyrion has a gift with being able to use his wits get himself out of even the most dangerous situations. As for me, I am undecided between who my favorite characters are as I have seen bravery shown in the character of Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) after she stands up to someone close to her who was at first challenging for her to stand up to and she has exhibited bravery for the new community of people she ends up belonging to. Other characters who have shown great bravery and courage from the seven episodes I have seen so far are Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) and Jon Snow (Kit Harrington). Their father Ned Stark has led a very difficult life despite being an honorable man and hopefully there is going to be a happier ending for Arya Stark, Jon Snow, Bran Stark andor Robb Stark that maybe shows being a brave person with much heart can still pay off even in a world where financial power and political power reign supreme over goodness. Yes, I may be dreaming. It is just that it this show is enjoyable to watch and gives great ideas for a writer such as myself on how to develop stronger plots. However, seeing what Ned Stark (Sean Bean) has to endure even after his public service to Robert Baratheon (Mark Addy)despite doing what is right for the greater good of many people who he is in charge of makes me root for happier endings for his children Jon Snow, Arya Stark, Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead Wright), and Robb Stark (Richard Madden). I understand that actress Sophie Turner is only doing her job as Sansa Stark a woman who so far seems to be completely different from her other siblings yet in a more dangerous, violent, andor potentially harmful femme fatale way. I hope that this is not the case but it seems as if Sansa Stark may be written to end up much more dangerous than she initially appears from what I have seen of her so far. A man or woman watching this show must have a very open mind to watching Game of Thrones Season 1 especially because of some extremely shocking andor controversial scenes such as a major plot scene between Daenerys Targen (Emilia Clarke) and Khal Drogo (Jason Momoa).
