It's got cheats, and it's got Freeloader

It does what it's supposed to. It's an Action Replay so it has a bunch of preloaded cheats for every Gamecube game. It does NOT have the ability to add custom cheat codes. This disc does include Freeloader, which will allow you to boot custom software from compatible media such as an SD card. The Action Replay will also allow you to boot NTSC-J games by swapping the disc, as it bypasses the region check. I have not tried PAL games, and I would hesitate to do so because of the different video standards between regions (60hz vs 50hz).

This disc can only be booted on NTSC-U systems unless you mod your import system with a region-free chip, or a region switch.

Time to Clear Up any Misconceptions About GCN Action Replay

I'm going to make some things perfectly clear about the GCN Action Replay.
1. If you own the Original GCN version(2002-2003) Disc & 64mb memory card. Yes, you can
add new codes & save them on the memory card. This version is available on Amazon, the prices are pretty
high because they're hard to find. WORKS ONLY WITH GAMECUBE!

2. If you own the newer version, (2007 or newer) this disc will work on a WII. It comes with the disc only,
you cannot input your own codes. This version will work with GAMECUBE or WII Consoles. I recently bought
the newer version, it does work on my WII console. One of the reasons I bought this version is that there's
a code that will unlock all the rare NES games on the Gamecube game ANIMAL CROSSING-ZELDA, MARIO
BROS, DK1, DK2, and others. So there you have it, some people need to read the descriptions carefully
before jumping to conclusions.

I have to jump through hoops to get my GameCube to be able to read this disc. Usually won't read until well after a dozen times attempting to get it to work. Also, once it is running and codes are selected, when it prompts me to remove the disc and insert the game sometimes the game disc will just spin and the screen stays frozen. This means I have to do the first thing all over again from the beginning. I will say, however, that once it works it does do what it is supposed to do. Too bad it's a pain to get it to work.

I’m a collector as well and have other consoles to play. So this defiently speeds up my run times. I didn’t think I would find this. So I am very grateful I did and it was at a great price to buy. Booted into SWISS on my SD card on GameCube just fine

Just confirming that the disc I received was able to boot into SWISS just fine. If the disc detects an SD card, you will be able to launch a .DOL from it. If the disc does not detect an SD card you are presented with the normal menu of games to apply hacks and the FREELOADER.

The SWISS Wiki under ways to launch homebrew states that you need an old version of Action Replay with code-entry or a FREELOADER disc to boot homebrew, and that doesn't seem to be accurate info. This one worked fine.

Had to mod my GameCube to use this

My GameCube didn't even acknowledge there was a disk in the system when I put this in, and the console has never had any trouble reading games. But when I popped it in my Wii it came right up. Turns out I had to change the potentiometer for the laser in my GameCube from the factory default 220 ohms down to 160. Kind of ridiculous that a product designed for a system would require you to disassemble the system to use it. But after that was sorted out it works great.

Before I buy anything, I research it through reviews and videos, but when I saw GameCube and "works with the wii" too, I was excited. I thought I had a 2-for-1 cheat device for both systems. So I'm giving it four stars bc it arrived as promised and in new condition.
