good and comfortable controller (better than the N64 ones were). It works much better than a 3rd party controller, such as madcatz. If you plan to, or have played "super smash brothers melee"(great game) you will notice how much easier it is to pull-off moves with a nintendo brand controller. It is worth the extra money, no-matter what it says on the third party company's package (dont be fooled by a third party controllers extra button: the "M" button, it does nothing because a nintendo brand controller doesnt have one and developers design games according to nintendo brand controllers). I never use my cheap madcatz controller (madcatz controller often malfunctions as well), this one is much better, and black goes with everything. My rule of thumb: Nintendo brand game accessories are more reliable, longer lasting, eye appealing and overall better than third party distributers. *please vote yes if I helped*

When the Xbox, PS2, and GC were first on the market in 2001, (PS2 came out in 2000, but wasn't in supply until the other systems came out) there was much arguement about which one had the best controller. PS2 usually will win, but I have to disagree. I find the GC controller to be the easiest to use. This controller is identical to the one you would receive when you purchase a Jet Black Game Cube. Please note that the Game Cube only comes with one controller, so if you're planning on playing two player games you'll need to get another one. Yes there are cheaper ones on the market, most notably ones from Intec, Mad Catz, Pelican etc, HOWEVER if you read the fine print in your warranty, using any 3rd party product such as those, will automatically void your warranty with the system. For the few extra dollars you spend it will be well worth your purchase. This controller is also very rugged I've had my Game Cube since 2001, and my controller has been stepped on, spilled on, etc, and it's in perfect working order. Save yourself the trouble, and get one of these.

The other reviewer seems to think that an item review is the place to rant. I have no idea what he is talking about. I have ordered dozens of items from Amazon and have never had any problems. My orders have always arrived before the expected delivery date.

As for the controller, there is no difference between the platinum, black, purple, and orange controllers. I have three GC controllers and they have all stood the test of time. If you don't mind the lack of a rumble feature, the Wavebird wireless controller is the better way to go. I do like the rumble feature so I stick with the corded ones.

The Wii classic controller is a bit awkward and hard to use. Although it has an advantage of being wireless, you still need to attach it to the Wiimote (where it dangles like the Nunchuk). This is more of an issue when you play older Gamecube games and downloadable virtual games when you need to press a combination of buttons to run and jump at the same time. Too bad, the jump button (on the Wii classic controller) is far from the run button and much smaller than the original design. For these reasons, the original GC controller is still the preferable choice.
I have used other 3rd party controllers and nothing can get close to the original Nintendo controller.

Pros:
- Perfect response. The most annoying thing that some 3rd party controllers are notorious to is snapping back to the opposite direction when you wanted to have your Pacman or Mario guy turn right or left.
- Perfect handgrip
- rumble effect
- Unlike the Nintendo "Wavebird", this is still available.

Cons:
- Wired
- Expensive, as Nintendo has almost abandoned the Gamecube console for Wii and very few are left.

Nintendo is phasing these out, but if you want to keep playing the classic Gamecube games you'll need at least one of these and your old Wii. True, Nintendo intends to make some Gamecube games available for download onto the WiiU, but that doesn't mean that all Gamecube games will be available. Best to hold on just to be sure.

When you get controllers like these, though, always go with Nintendo-made products; all the others look very similar but you can feel right away the response times are not as sharp. And then later on, you'll see that quality is not as good when the controller breaks a month later (true story). That's when you will be kicking yourself, wishing you had forked over a little more money for a quality Nintendo product.

Of course, my son DIGS having an additional controller for his games.

NOTE: This product was a personal purchase for myself at the normal retail price. I'm reviewing it solely because I want to share my experience with other potential customers. I have received no compensation for my review, nor do I have any relationship with the seller or manufacturer of this product.

Controllers were shipped and delivered in a very timely manner and were packaged in a clean and organized manner that showed these products were taken care of. The controllers were very clean and showed no signs of wear, scratches, or marks.

As an avid and middle-tier Super Smash Bros. player, these controllers are of excellent quality:
- Joysticks are firm and responsive
- All buttons are crisp and fully operational (did not stick)
- D-pad worked efficiently and did not lean toward one direction
- Wires were not jumbled, crinkled, or cut in any manner
- Vibration functions were great; varied from minor to strong & short to extended vibration patterns
- Fully compatible with original GameCube, Wii, and Wii U's GameCube controller adapter
