I bought one at Walgreens and have used it many many times! It polishes the scratches and makes it readable but if they are deep it will not help! I also used it to polish the glass on my Droid before Amour plating it and it took out the small dust scratches. Use as directed and it works as advertised!

I buy sell and trade Media and video games and sell on Amazon as you may see from my account.

As all the reviews are in... basically save your money. If you are looking for a cheap quick fix find a professional who repairs disc. Usually its $2 to $6 bucks. The basic principle is like buffing a scratch out of a car. Unfortunately I used this item on a disc for about 10 minutes it just left more scratches.

Rather than not leaving feedback, I left a 1 star comment because you can actually get that gummy sticky stuff like jelly or whatever people use on their disc off. (better than no stars right?)

I can't recommend the disc doctor but its far better. For a cheap recommendable machine I prefer the JFJ $100 to $200 in the right market place, but its a little messy. I personally have an Azura Disc machine. I can support RTI as well as they have a phenomenal machine as well.

It's about as useful as a kick to the head with a metal boot at Christmas. The idea is you will "sand off" the damaged layer of the CD/DVD and then the laser will be able to view the content buried underneath. Obviously, you can only pull that so many times before you eat through the plastic on the DVD and ruin it, but in principle it'll work at least once. Even if you make some new minor ones which cosmetically look bad, they likely will not hinder the laser in the CD/DVD player enough to cause problems.

However, the included sheet is not abrasive enough to seem to do anything at all to any scratch. In practice it did nothing. Absolutely nothing for scratches. Nadda. Nothing. It might have use for cleaning some surface gunk off the disc but that's hardly a "repair" as it claims to do. It didn't manage to fix even a minor scratch for me. Completely and utterly worthless. I'm glad I only spent a buck.

This is a piece of junk. Even though I followed the directions, it didn't do anything but put little pieces of dust on it. For a guy like me, I wanted to get my money's worth out of this product which I didn't. I honestly don't see this to be award winning when all you do is rub it against the disk. I have to agree with Brandon on this because for me, it only made it worse, even though I used the foam. .

If this is how the genie does it's work, then I am keeping it inside of it's bottle because this is ridiculous. If you want to clean a disc, use tooth paste, or maybe even a real cleaner like the Digital Innovations SkipDr, not some stupid little piece of foam. If this is TELL INDUSTRIES 100% satisfaction, then it is a lie. This is one heck of a publicity stunt their pulling.

Believe me if you need to remove any scratches from your cd or dvd media this is not the product your looking for. This product just creates more scratches rather than actually removing any.

I only paid $1 for the Disc Genie, so I wasn't expecting much to begin with -- I had a PS1 game and a DVD (each of them *lightly* scratched, not badly) that I wanted to fix, and I figured this might help.

All the Disc Genie consists of, really, is a piece of abrasive paper with a type of foam backing so it will sit flat on a table.

It didn't help, obviously, on either disc. What it DID do was make MORE scratches all over these discs, rendering them even more unplayable than before. The instructions included are also rather unhelpful; I had to look up a review online to even tell me which side of the Disc Genie was supposed to "genie-ify" my discs and make them work again. After reading reviews, apparently what it's supposed to do is sand off the edges of "rough scratches, which scatters the light of the player's reading laser." It does this by adding thousands of smaller scratches to your discs you're trying to fix, not repairing the ones that are there. Apparently the lasers of disc readers can "see through smaller scratches." Yeah, right. Maybe some can, but my discs looked like they'd been through a sandpaper factory when I was done. Pass on this one, folks, unless you want to damage your discs further. Waste of money. I'd give it zero stars if only I could.
