Yes this game does get frustrating for younger kids. The hamsters do not stay on the wands very easy, especially when you try to slide them across the board, and the 'battle table' is flimsy. I attached the legs to the bottom of the box with double stick tape and it worked better.

My two boys, ages 10 and 6, love this game! It's usually their first pick when we get games out. It's nice for kids with a bit of an age spread, because the older one doesn't have an automatic advantage. Very fun. They've even figured out how to make the sumo-hamsters do a happy dance when they win!

This game caught my eye at the store because... um...hello!?? Sumo wresting hamsters!! I bought it because I couldn't resist, and was happy to discover that it's also fun to play - it has become my family's new favorite.

Basically, four sumo wrestlers battle it out on a game board trying to knock each other over without getting knocked over themselves. You control them using magnetic wands, and my kids think it's hilarious that you also "feed" them throughout the game, giving them these pellets that add extra weight (and so the heavier the sumo hamster, the more stable it is).

It's a really active, boisterous game, and it's fast to play, so we can do several rounds without anybody getting bored.

Purchased this game for the Grandchildren, but they have to "wrestle" their parents for a turn. Really 4 can play so they do learn to share. Teaches a little patience and strategy but is easy to learn and loads of fun.
Showed it to the Children librarians and they laughed their heads off while challenging each other- enough said.

This game is fun but, there are a few issues. The sumo hamsters are difficult to open to remove the 'food pellets.' Closing them is not so easy for an adult, so this may be difficult for little hands to do. Also, the hamsters do not close well after removing the pellets several times. If the players do not hold onto the game board, it changes the outcome of the play. The hand controls do not stay on the hamster by magnet force very well and moving the controller with hamster staying attached is complicated. Fun for a few minutes, but grows old quick.

I wish this game had been fun. Unfortunately, it was difficult to use, because the magnets were too strong to glide under the board, yet too weak to have decent control over your hamster. It also wasn't very interesting, because it had too many rules for what would have been more fun as a toy, and because you had poor control of the hamster, it felt like luck, rather than skill, if you won.

My 4 y o niece wanted this game because she saw the hamsters on the box. There are four plastic hamsters (bigger than I anticipated) and two wands, a bunch of plastic pellets, a die, and a flimsy plastic game board. The little kids have fun playing with the hamsters and feeding them pellets, my mom and I had fun slamming the hamsters using the magnetic wands. Only trouble is the flimsy board is so light that it won't stay down unless you hold on to it, and when you hold it it twists. Seems like for the price they could have made it out of something more substantial.
