First issue: ordered and payed extra for next day as a prime member. After a week I had to write in, eventually I got the unit and a refund of the extra shipping charge.
Impressive packaging - unit works great! - Then the mini-USB port within the unit - just broke off. I wish I could tell you it was because it dropped or something, but it literally just fell apart inside the unit. I returned it to Amazon, but had to wait weeks for a replacement.
I decided, not to use the USB ports, only/unless I needed to. In reviewing the first unit's issue, the mini-usb port within the unit is not re-enforced which means their is stress on that port and it's solder joints from it just being plugged in. No biggie for me, after all I just wanted a great fan that empowers me to control the fans, with user replaceable fans.
Seriously - I LOVE THIS UNIT'S DESIGN - when it works.Read more ›
-I think is huge, its like carrying another laptop
-The light is useless and distracting.
-Noisy at max speed
Why I loved it
-You can turn off the light
-It solved my heating problem on my gaming laptop
-It does fit under my huge laptop
-After 10 months still works like day 1
Fortunately the larger Sager/Clevo units are renowned for their cooling systems, but I still wanted to chill down the whole bottom of the laptop, thereby increasing the convection cooling to the internals not directly fan cooled. This cooler delivers it in spades, without having to ever crank the speed past 50% I might add!
Even in the summer after endless gaming sessions, the highest I've ever seen the temps go are 50-60 deg.C on the CPU, and 60-75 deg.C on both GPU's, the entire bottom of the lappy being cool to the touch, and none of the units three fans ever going above an idle. That my friends is downright chilly for a high end gaming rig and what I call getting the job done.
For hard core gamers or people doing heavy video encoding ,etc. on expensive hardware, and want to augment their cooling systems with something that WORKS, it's a no-brainer.
Is it huge? Sure, but that also makes it a stable base for even large laptops like mine, even on my lap.
Can it be loud? Yes, but there truly is no need to crank it full bore.
Is it a little spendy? You bet, but the title of the review says it all. Besides, I've spent half as much on other coolers, and not had them last even half as long, and I'm anal-retentive about caring for my stuff.
Some people complain about laptop coolers not pushing much air. I think they confuse PSI with volume.Read more ›
I dont like how short the cord is for the cooler and it doesn't seem like as high a quality product as the price would suggest. But it definitely does the job.
One thing that I think people should know is that this pad is not meant for mobility, it is meant more for stationary placement because of the power cord that it needs to operate its fans. This is fine for me because I normally use my HP at my desk when working or playing games so I do not need to move it around all over the place.
The fans are quiet and potent on the low setting but can be loud on the high setting; however it keeps the bottom part nice and cool and the speed can be adjusted. I would recommend the low setting for everyday computing and high for heavy tasks like gaming. The fans blow air directly on the parts of my laptop that need it most - processor, battery, and hard drive. It is one of the few pads out there that allows you to move the fans wherever you want and can come off easily for cleaning.
I also like how the pad also turns into a USB 2.0 hub with plenty of ports available and the angle that it rests on is quite comfortable. While I am not a big fan of lights, they are a nice touch and can be turned off.

Unfortunately, the power connection is on the right side instead of the back. Very inconvenient for a table. Also, it does not capture a volume of air equal to the noise. Read morePublished 6 months ago by Leonardo A.
