Every house has at least one 5 gallon pail lying around that used to contain detergent, paint, etc. Why throw away a perfectly good bucket when you can turn it into genuine useable storage? Don't throw away those like-new laundry detergent buckets; put them to good use with Gamma Seal! The Gamma Seal lid permanently transforms your 12" diameter bucket into an airtight/leak proof storage container. Now a bucket can be used for hundreds of household and other storage applications! Simply snap the patented adapter onto your bucket and spin-on the removable lid. Specially engineered gaskets ensure that the lid and adapter are properly sealed to guarantee airtight protection. I have many of these at home and they keep things organized. I have one for cat food, one for my rock salt, one for lawn fertilizer, one for a diaper pail, one on the boat, and a few others. All you do is snap the adapter onto your pail, spin on the lid, and that's it. One quick spin and it's open, closes air/watertight in seconds! No more prying off those difficult lids. The Gamma Seal lid fits virtually any 3.5-7.0 gallon bucket (including 20 liter).

I have a 5 gallon foodsafe bucket I'd been using for dog food, but the lid was such a pain to take off and on, I ended up just "setting" it on top instead of sealing it between uses. I was able to snap this spin lid right over the rim of the bucket after a quick wash, and the spinner just glides to the tightest seal I could imagine! Super high quality, I even tested how airtight it was by filling my bucket with water as part of my washing process, and turned it upside down to check for leaks. It took a lot of loosening of the spinner for the droplets to start appearing.
There are a few bits of excess plastic here and there that look like overflow from the molding process, and if they bother you, the plastic is easily snipped or sanded smooth with no problems.
I'm interested in buying more buckets now to use for other things, and when I do, I plan on buying many more of these lids to top them - the fact that they come in a rainbow of colors means I'll be able to store them all right next to one another without fear of confusion. Great, great product!
These Gamma Seal lids do their job well, I'll give them that. They seal up well, attach to the bucket itself very solidly, and are easy to open. I still wouldn't risk knocking a bucket over, but these do the job. I gave this three stars because while I didn't like it, I could see why others would.
As a note, we just purchased 5 gallon buckets at Lowes and they fit these lids. I wasn't sure when I ordered the lids if all 5 gallon buckets are a standard size, but it seems they are.
I'm using mine for chicken feed, chicken watering system buckets, and bird seed. Now that I see how nicely they spin on and off and the tight seal they make, I just may be buying more for other items like people food storage. For 10 bucks, I feel like I got a steal and will definitely be ordering more.
BTW, my original intent was to use one for compost and one for food storage but due to me being a procrastinator, I really need the second bucket to give me more time between food waste burials.
