JD Marshall is on the run. He's not entirely sure who is after him, but he knows that he has to stay far enough ahead of them to get his new computer software finished. On his wild ride, he takes along his fifteen-year-old son, the son he didn't even know he had until now. They end up temporarily stalled in Madrid, Kentucky. He relies heavily on his business knack to convince Miss Nina Toon that he just needs a place to finish his program and maybe he can help her with something she desperately wants at the same time. Giving Nina the moon would have been an easier task than ignoring her. Nina is a high school teacher with a really green thumb and a talent for knowing when something is about to break. She doesn't trust men, especially those who disrupt her simple life and start bulldozing her botanical garden dreams with the press of a keyboard button. She is delicate as a fairy, beautiful as the roses in her gardens, and alive with a vitality that shocks JD's system. The idea is, if JD can finish his program and market it before the bad guys get hold of him, everything will be just peachy. That is until Nina's dear-old-mom shows up and tries to take over the land that Nina plans for her gardens and a mysterious Mercedes starts stalking the quiet streets of Madrid. The plot thickens to a pea soup density when our lovers - and opposites do certainly attract in this story - take this mystery to Las Vegas. The romance that lies imbedded within the plot is subtle, yet incredibly tense and hot. JD and Nina work beautifully together. The only problem lies in the vast number of names that keep bouncing around in the story - JD, Jimmy, Jackie, Helen, Hattie, Nancy, Nina, Tom, Dillon, Hoyt, Laddie, Albert, Ethel. It is a challenge just to remember who is who during the first half of the book. Ms. Rice's latest book is, however, lively and fast-paced, built on the very contemporary idea of corporate-America intrigue. The enjoyment lies in a heavy resemblance to the world around us. A heavy-weight plot but a light-hearted romance! Curl up with Patricia Rice's latest and hold your breath! The world of computer software needs more long-haired, motorcycle-riding programmers! Computers and greenhouses really do mix! JD and Nina are a match made in heaven. Karen Ellington -- Copyright © 1998 Literary Times, Inc. All rights reserved -- From Literary Times

From the Publisher

Selling Garden of Dreams by Patricia Rice was a pleasure. It was one of our first contemporary romances and it did very well. We had many laughs about the cover, though. It's really great, but how many CEOs of computer companies look like Lorenzo Lamas on a Harley? A good read, especially for anyone interested in gardening. Lisa Congelosi, Sales Rep
