This is a touching romance that was a joy to watch bloom into love. I enjoyed the clean read with wonderful characters. There is a little boy here Petey that will steal your heart with his quick words and his strength. He had me laughing at times with his cute wording.
It really broke my heart at how bad Mimi was treated but fear brings the worse out of most of us. Rock sure is name correct he is a rock that any women would be proud to lean on. I found this to be a good realistic read that is very believable and could really have happen. The supporting characters were great giving lots of support. When you come to the end you will still have a few questions but the author follows up answering all your question from the illness to the death. I was feeling a little loss until I read on. I feel that should have been covered in the story but it was nice to see the answers. As always she gives a wonderful recipe at the end I can’t wait to try.
that seems impossible. This fantastic story is full of rich
historical detail combined with a sweet love story
It weaves exquisite detail into the finest story. This was
a vey authentic and well-researched story. I felt like I’d
slipped back in time to Portland, Oregon in 1942. It was
a time when native born American citizens of Japanese
heritage were treated with distrust and relocated to
detention center that were deplorable.
The major characters have a depth making them realistic
plus captivating. The author gets into the heads of the
characters so the reader understands the inner workings
of the characters.
Getting lost in the story, the reader will feel sympathy for
the characters, their plight, the love story while learning
about the people and their customs.
I volunteered to read this eBook. This to the author for
the eBook. My opinion on own.
I love how this is not not an instant attraction novel. It is a true romance, built on historical fact and tragedy. The heroes are worthy of our admiration. The main villain is slimy and despicable. The supporting personalities worthy of our time and attention. And the description of the farm and buidings swoonworthy.
Miko's dilemma is a matter of survival. As the story begins, Rock's survival is questionable as well.
The country is at war but who is the enemy? A discouraging look at our shameful history.
The writing draws you into their lives and sorrows. We watch as their attraction grows and see how the potential for this story to end differently is possible with any of a dozen details.
Full of anger, deceit and fear, it is balanced with wit and intelligence.
