The hammer edging went in easily with two people and recently rained on ground. My husband hammered on the new piece going in and I would hold the last piece hammered with my foot. We were able to install two packages quickly like this. I had to order a third package and decided to try another method where I took a garden spade and pre-scored the ground - that worked well for one person installing. With the pre-scoring of the ground, there was minimal uplifting of the previously installed piece while hammering the current piece.

I used a regular hammer (I didn't have a rubber mallet) to pound these into clay soil and they didn't even dent or get damaged. It was a pretty sturdy product. The pieces interlocked together without a problem.

I also was able to do the job alone without assistance.

It does the job that I needed it to do at a very cheap price. Its not a fancy or pretty edging by any means. Its kinda ugly close up. Its got some funny ridges on it. From a distance it looks just fine.

Unless you have soft loamy soil, you'll be trenching. I spent a couple of hours trying to hammer this stuff in and the piece I was beating on would go in, but everything else down the line would pop out. I tried 1 piece at a time, 2, 3, 4, etc... it didn't make any difference. As soon as you connect them, something down the line would come out. I finally bought a edging/trenching tool and finished the project.

Bottom line, unless you have ideal soil, you'll be cutting an edge so get the trim you like. Besides, it's actually faster and easier to trench than it is to hammer. If I would have realized that out the outset, I would have purchased another, more flexible type of edging, but it works and it might be the look you are after--cute scalloped edge. Mine is nearly flush with the lawn as it was meant to keep grass out of the planting beds, so it isn't ideal for what I wanted. I was just trying to avoid trenching. Silly me! It's somewhat flexible and I do have curves in my beds, but it's not nearly as much as other types.

We are a new house owner and was working on my front yard flower bed on one side and English shrub garden on other side ... also my kitchen garden in the back yard ..... All done very well but I could not able to find the right borders to make all these gardens neat looking and separated from yard... bought some from lowe's and some from home depot but nothing worked out some of them were flimsy to put into the mud to stand up right ... some of them are too hard to dig in .. and if they do go in after all my hard work they will pop out back next day , as they didn't have spikes to dig in easily and stay back there... but finallyyyyy I found these on Amazon and they solved my life's problem ... I was hesitated to buy them at first ... price was lil high for us as we spent all after buying house and updating it ... but Im glad I did buy ... I could do it so easily just with little few punches on top with hammer ... they have spikes on the bottom so they would not need a lot of force digging into the ground ... I watered the place where I wanted to dig them in and it was such a great help on top of it..... pretty sturdy plastic as the same time easy to bend to give ur garden a nice curvey look..... reasonable nice height to cover ur garden with ur favorite mulch .

Need to order few more to cover my back yard kitchen garden . Great buy !!!!

The fencing comes in 1 foot sections (or so) and fastens together so easily. Very easy to work with. Worked perfectly for holding my woodchips where they should be and kept them from sliding down the hill in another spot.

Because my topsoil is mostly shale bits and clay I didn't have much hope that this edging would work for me. I was wrong. The edging, pounded into the dirt with a rubber mallet, worked fine and looks great.

The pieces were much sturdier than I'd anticipated, and worked well in this application. As the ground was soft, I was able to place without use of a hammer. Exactly what I needed, and offered here at a better price than other offers online and at brick and mortor stores. Packaged well, and speedy delivery. I'm very pleased.
