Frequently Asked Questions
How is RootBoost packaged and sold?
RootBoost is a powder and available in a 2-ounce plastic container.
Can I dip the cutting directly into the jar/packet of RootBoost?
When taking cuttings, you should pour out a small amount onto a paper plate or something that you will throw away when you’re done, then dip the cutting into the RootBoost on the plate. This will eliminate the possibility of contaminating the RootBoost inside the container.
How long will it take my cuttings to root?
Rooting can take 3–5 weeks, depending on the plant species.
Can I mix RootBoost with water?
No, RootBoost is not meant to be mixed with water and doing so will dilute the product and its effectiveness.
Can I use RootBoost on vegetable or fruit cuttings?
No, RootBoost is only made to be used on ornamental plants.
What is rooting medium?
Rooting medium provides physical support, water and oxygen. Many types of rooting medium are available. The most common are sand, perlite, peat, vermiculite or a mixture of these four. Potting soil and a commercial soilless mix are also available at most retailers. Water is not recommended to use as a rooting medium. The medium should be free of weeds and disease, and moist before inserting the cuttings.
What is a node?
Leaves, buds, and branches originate from the stem at specific locations, called nodes. These areas are often slightly swollen. Multiple plant structures may originate from a single node. Each plant may have several nodes.

Transform cuttings into strong, healthy flower plants. When it comes to planting, you shouldn’t moderate when you propagate. RootBoost rooting hormone will help by turning simple cuttings into new plants. Cut as close to the base on existing healthy plants as possible. Once planted in the recommended soil mixture, the cuttings will root and can be transferred to new soil as needed. RootBoost rooting hormone only works on cuttings and has no effect on established plants.
Directions for Use
- Pour some RootBoost on a plate when using
- Pull cuttings from the base on existing plants
- Lightly moisten cut ends
- Stir cut ends in RootBoost powder
- Plant cuttings in the recommended soil mixtures
- Use on ornamental plants only
- Do not use on plants other than ornamentals
- Do not apply directly to water
- Do not use on existing plants as RootBoost does not affect them
- Do not use near children and pets
