I have it on the south side of my house on a concrete patio. On the inside, I tied down a cynder block in each corner to keep it from blowing away and it is doing a great job. I also bought a heater and thermostat for it. At night, inside the greenhouse the temp stays in the 40s, even though the temp outside is in the low teens. During the day, even though the temp is in the 30s, it gets up into the 80s and quite humid inside the greenhouse. I'm in central NC, so the sun is fairly strong and does a great job of heating it up during the day, but once the sun goes down and the temp drops, you'll need a heater (and thermostat) in it to keep it at a specific temp, which I bought at Greenhouse Megastore. I bought the Portable Electric Heater, 120V, Item Number: HT-2000 ($49) and the Portable Prewired Thermostat, Item Number: CT-1000 ($48) and both are doing a great job.
Update: Not only were the joints twisted and useless, but the support rods were also twisted. I e-mailed a few weeks ago, and have not received a reply. Only used it a few months and now I can't use it anymore.
This was extremely easy to assemble. I cannot believe how warm it gets inside during the day. Sometimes I leave the front section rolled up out of concern that my plants will get too hot! Great little greenhouse for the money! One thing I will add for anyone who might be interested...I lined the "floor" area with styrofoam sections to keep the large plants from sitting directly on the cold ground. All is well at this point. I may add to my review (if I remember to!) once winter is over and it's time for my plants to go back outside. I noticed that several people reported missing parts. I had 1 part missing, reported it, and they had it to me within the week. They were very pleasant and didn't treat me like they thought I was lying. I'm just telling you this so that you might not wait until the last minute to order, in case you have a similar situation.
Definitely find something solid to tie the greenhouse down to secure it from blowing away. I tried to weigh it down with concrete blocks and a very heavy table to pin it against two sides of railing on the corner of a deck thinking that would be good enough to hold it down but the wind still managed to knock the furniture around & the blocks over. Use the included strings & rope it around something absolutely immovable.
Set up was very easy. One thing (I learned the hard way) is be careful if you're assembling under the sun on a very hot day. The metal rods absorb heat fast.
Just love the convenience. My daughter and I assembled the enclosure in less than 15 minutes . .I placed it on planks and then put more lumber on the hems . .with the legs of a shelf and a raised planting container to hold everything in place as the ground pegs couldn't be used. The only improvement I'd like to see: A few small screened vents near the peak for excess heat . .Perhaps a few spots without the plastic layers?
A top rail would be good too . .so a few hanging baskets could be used.
Now after 4 months out of doors my 'Green House' is completely worn out . .the plastic between the green string mesh has dissolved especially on the top . .leaving holes all over. I would not have expected this to occur and especially not after one season!
