The cart is built way too high for a 15" normal shaft. The wood cross beam is so high off the ground that I could barely - and I mean barely - get my Mercury 9.9 4 stroke on it, and I'm 6' tall. If you're shorter, you'll need to stand on something to get your motor mounted. Once I got it on the cart, the bottom of the engine was 10" off the ground. This causes several problems: the engine & cart is top heavy and very wobbly, unstable; it's hard to pull on the pull cord as it it so high in the air, I had to stand on a step ladder to get the right pulling angle; and because the water pickup is so high off the ground, it's hard to get water to it to start it.
So I modified the cart. I cut 8" off the bottom of the handle part, bolted the wheel/uframe to the holes that used to be for the support brackets, and drilled 2 new holes higher up for the support brackets. Made a huge difference, now the engine is stable on the cart, the pull cord is at the right angle, the engine is MUCH easier to get on & off the stand, and it easy to get water to the water pickup.
The way it came from the seller, I'd rate it 1 star, and I would have returned it. After my modifications, I'd rate it 5 stars
When I put my 15hp Mercury outboard on it and just touched the handle lightly it bobbled back and forth like a bobble head doll.
It worked just fine moving the motor from the back of the boat across the grassy yard and into the garage and seems solid enough. The wheels were large enough to easily go across the grass even after a good bit of rain.
So it will work ok I think, but I just don't like my trusty motor bobbling back and forth.
My stand was missing the two bolts to fasten the supports, so I had to provide my own. Not a big deal, but annoying.
The stand will accommodate up to a 15 HP motor, however if you're using it for anything over 5 HP, you're supposed to attach the mounting-board on the back of the frame instead of the front. Unfortunately the instructions aren't well written, and that little tidbit isn't even mentioned until after the stand assembly is complete. Since it's a balance issue, dealing with the extra weight of the larger motor, it's not something you really should be ignoring. So if the board's on the wrong side, take it apart and move it now. Again not a big deal, but annoying.

For the price the Garelick motor stand met my expectations. Note if outboard motor stand is made out of aluminum, thus a little flimsy w/ motor attached. Read morePublished 10 months ago by plummer.mx
