The only feature I am very displeased with is the Garmin Connect website, which is where you will upload your stats. You can delete rounds from the site, but can not edit a scorecard. You can edit your last round played on your S5, but can not upload it again after the correction. If you delete a round from Connect, even if it is still saved in your scorecard file, you can never view it again. One of the stats tracked is fairways hit. On the watch it gives you the option of fairway, left, or right. In Garmin Connect it will only display percentage of fairways hit, not left or right.
Bottom line is I love the watch but the Garmin Connect website is very poor.
I've very happy with the device itself. The GPS is very accurate. It matches well with marked yardage on the course.
I especially like the touchscreen which lets you see how far away trouble is. Should I lay up or carry ? Also, you put in your average driver distance during setup and every hole, it overlays an arc showing where your drive should end up. This lets you know right away if a fairway hazard is in play.
I love the scoring mode which allows you to enter the score of the hole, number of putts and which direction your drive went. I only wish there were other, configurable stats you could enter, penalties, duffs, like that.
It's a little bulky for my wrist, but that's only because I usually prefer a thinner watch.
Another small complaint I have is that, when wearing a glove, the material hits the buttons on the right side, so, you're often hitting the 'Return' button to get back to the yardage.
I've played about 11 rounds so far with this watch and have become very dependent on it. I did freeze on me in the middle of a round and needed a hard reset. This caused me to lose all the scoring up to that hole. I needed to go back over the holes I played and re-enter the scores. I had not been tracking putts on my card and had to fudge those. FYI. If this watch freezes on you, hold down the power button for 10 seconds and the watch will turn off. When this happened to me I was on my approach on a par 5 and had to hit blind. Like I said, you become almost too dependent on this for yardage.
Lastly, the Garmin Express isn't very forgiving. Once a round is saved, there is no way to re-open the round and make edits. So, if you 'End Round' and forgot to score a hole, the only way to make changes is to use a command line editor and edit the XML file. If you've already uploaded the round to connect.garmin, it's even more complicated.
Update: The watch has been acting a little flaky lately. During yesterday's round, while scoring a hole, it had the putt count at 0 and wouldn't let me increase it. I had to save the round and edit the xml file to correct.
Positives...nice features (when working properly) and not too bulky on the wrist.
Negatives...battery life still an issue, didn't advance properly and not sure if related to low battery life. (BTW each time I charged for a full 12 hours prior to using)
after all I finish with a 37% of battery life remained. I don't know why since some reviewas talk of battery life up to two rounds. I would like to know how to set the stableford system in the hole information, since in the manual that comes with the watch doesn't show that info.
Otherwise great watch
