The Speed sensor has now been attached for my last two rides. They've been about 6-8 mile rides (mountain biking on trails) and now my Connect sessions are coming out ahead on distance by 2-3/10th's. Awesome. I always thought the Garmin GPS should have been more accurate, but apparently it was less accurate than either the iPhone GPS or Verizon cell triangulation.
So, love the product so far.
The automatic wheel size determination feature is disappointing. If it is on then the wheel size is constantly refined. If it is turned off then one must manually enter a size. I bought this because my Garmin watch (Fenix 3) is extremely inaccurate for trail riding. I would like to use the automatic size feature to determine the wheel size in a situation of my choosing where I think the GPS will be reasonably accurate (e.g. riding for a mile or two on the road), not all the time because the GPS tends to be off on total distance by as much as 20% when trail riding. Manually entering the size isn't difficult, but I'm never sure how accurate it is because of varying tire sizes, change in effective diameter due to tire pressure, etc.
I bought this to switch between a fixed gear and a mountain bike. While I haven't used it outside just yet, it worked well on my rollers and stationary trainer. It can be quite a process getting this thing to mount on a larger hub while putting your fingers through the spokes. You just have to figure out the way that works for you through trial and error. Once you get the hang of it, it shouldn't be a problem. I have mounted it on both symmetrical and asymmetrical hubs, works fine on either.
4 stars. Finicky to attach physically, pairs easily when you follow the correct steps, works well so far.
