what I haven't tested yet is whether or not I can export from Garmin Base Camp and I can have that export 100% on the GPS - the previous ones kept changing the route by recalculating.
plastic is real sturdy, nice weight, it feels rock solid. the only annoyance is what they did with the motorcycle cradle. when it's on the cradle you cannot plug the USB port - the cradle has its own pins to provide power. and the darned traffic receiver is on the usb charge cable. so when you put it on cradle, no traffic, because you cannot plug the USB, because it is blocked by the cradle. now, I don't know whether this is by design or an "ooops" moment, but it sure is stupid. but the traffic information on these GPS devices are never accurate enough - there is always enough delay to fall into that trap; so I practically don't care about this flaw.
I was going to have the Indian dealer hook up the wiring on my Chieftain, but then I read that most people were getting up to seven hours use on a charge. I don't know about anyone else, but I have yet to ride more than seven hours at a stretch! So I keep it charged and just mount the thing as is, without being wired to my battery. I worried that the screen might be too small (I had gotten used to the 5-inch screen on my Garmin nüvi), but the Zumo model is close enough that it's fine. I have it on a mount that is screwed directly into the bracket for my clutch/mirror assembly, so I have not problem reading this relatively small screen.
I would recommend this model to any motorcyclist who is direction-challenged like me. I have found it gives me a real feeling of freedom to just ride, knowing I can find my way home from wherever I find myself.
