What a game changer! My success with deeper water catches greatly improved. The unit has worked flawlessly for me and for the price, you get some nice options. I'd like to upgrade to the EchoMap some day. Until then, I use my iPhone with the Navionics app for navigation. Easy install, easy to use. I highly recommend this unit.
Clear, lit up screen, easy to read but I had to give this a 4 star rating because the fish alarm is set at a lower volume and there is NO volume control. (I wrote to Garmin to ask how to turn up the volume). We listen to tunes in our boat (not loudly) while we are fising and I can barely hear the fish alarm if it beeps. If you are slightly hard of hearing, you won't hear it.
This is my first finder and I've had it for a few months now;. I like it. It hasn't helped me catch more fish but I guess that's why it is called a fish finder and not a fish catcher. Seriously though, the river that I boat on can all of sudden become very shallow, so just having this as a depth finder is well worth the money. I doubt you'll need instructions to use it because it is very simple to operate. Switching view ranges is very easy. Within a 1/2 hour you'll have it down. I do wish that it came with a longer transducer cable. I have a 24' pontoon boat and I mounted the transducer to one of my toons back end. After running the wiring under the boat I came up a foot or two short from reaching the helm. Unfortunately I had to order a transducer 10' extension cable that costs around $40.
My boyfriend is absolutely in love with his fish finder. He spends more time with it on the weekends than he spends with me! Ladies, don't get this if you enjoy attention! Just kidding. Great product at a great price.
