Each watch is water-rated to 100 meters and features advanced GPS and GLONASS satellite reception to track in more challenging environments than GPS alone. A bright, high-resolution, full-color Garmin Chroma Display with LED backlighting assures great readability in all ambient conditions – from harsh daylight to dim lighting. Transflective technology that reflects and transmits light at the same time enables the watch face to become even more readable under intense sunlight. Wrist-based Heart Rate
On your wrist, Elevate wrist heart rate technology lets you monitor your heart rate without wearing a chest strap. In addition to counting steps and monitoring sleep, the watch uses heart rate to provide calories burned information and quantify the intensity of your fitness activities.

Match Your Style with Interchangeable Watchbands
A selection of QuickFit bands in your choice of premium leather, metal or silicone makes it easy to mix and match styles to go with any sport or activity. No tools are required to make the transformation. Just swap, click and go.

Advanced Performance Metrics
Every Fenix 5X watch is packed with sophisticated training features to help monitor your form and performance. Enhanced readouts for Training Status and Training Effect show aerobic and anaerobic benefits of your workout – so you can see how your workouts are paying off and even compare results with your peers. The VO2 max estimator crunches data, including your running speed, beats per minute and heart rate variability, to estimate the maximum volume of oxygen you can consume per minute. And other fitness metrics include recovery advisor with a recovery timer and recovery check, plus a race predictor that estimates your ideal finish time based on your current VO2 max number.

Advanced Running Dynamics
Now you can go further with your running data. Garmin training features that tap into extended physiological metrics and advanced running dynamics can help improve your form and overall performance. These include: Performance condition, Lactate threshold, Cadence, Stride length.

Want more data?
By pairing your watch with a compatible heart rate chest strap such as the HRM-Run, you can access these additional Fenix 5X metrics: Vertical oscillation and ratio, Ground contact time and balance, Stress score.

Swim Profiles, Skiing, Paddle Sports, Golf and More
Beyond their running functions, Fenix 5X watches also offer special feature sets to help with swim training, skiing, golfing and paddle sports, including stand-up paddle boarding and rowing. For swimmers, the device tracks your distance, pace, stroke count and more. Ski/Board mode puts speed, distance, vertical drop and an automatic run counter (with Auto Pause for the lift line) and more at your fingertips. The feature set for paddle sports includes stroke count, stroke rate and even distance per stroke. Golf mode gives you yardage to the front, back and middle of the green for any single course you’ve downloaded from Garmin Connect – and also adds enhancements such as stat tracking (fairways hit, etc.), Green View, AutoShot detection and auto measure.

Custom Apps and Watch Faces
You can customize your Fenix 5X watch with free downloads from our Connect IQ store. Change your watch face, add data fields or get apps and widgets for information at a glance.

I bought this watch on May 2017 and now (March 2018) it stopped working. I contacted Garmin USA - because I bought it right here on this page - and I was informed by Garmin USA that they cannot do anything about it. My watch should be replaced but Garmin USA cannot do anything because MY WATCH IS REGISTERED IN SOUTHEAST ASIA!!!!! I am trying to contact Garmin Asia, but as I don't speak any Asian languages it is extremely difficult to solve this problem.
I WAS CHEATED BY AMAZON!!!!
My review is solely based on a mountaineer, climber, and hiker’s perspective.
Garmin has hit a home-run with this watch when it comes to hiking, climbing and ski/board mountaineering. I can upload .gpx climbing routes and navigate to and from flawlessly on the 1:24,000 scale $99 topo map upgrade. The 13ers, 14ers, trails are fully visible & accessible on the map. Furthermore, I sold my Garmin GPSMAP62stc handheld. This is truly a replacement to heavy and bulky handhelds with an insane amount of features beyond just mountaineering. The climbing, hiking, snowboarding activities are included and track G-Metrics accurately enough for me. I also own the Garmin Virb Ultra Action Camera and I can initiate pics/vids from my wrist. In addition, I receive low battery warnings in the same way. The battery life isn’t the best when in full GPS track mode, but I can get a full day of tracking with about 1/4 of the battery left. This is not a problem on multiple day climbs using an external battery or solar charger. I’m amazed how fast it charges!
To conclude, this watch is a beast! If you want a GPS/fitness watch on steroids this is it. If you like big screens and more affordable options this is not for you. If you are on the fence about a handheld I recommend this option.
UPDATE 6/2/17 - Charged from 16% to 100% in under 2 hours on a RAVPower 10050mAh Outdoor Portable Charger.
UPDATE 6/3/17 - Half day of mountaineering/splitboarding/climbing/course following. 56% battery level. Not bad!
UPDATE 6/12/17 - Whatever Garmin did with the new update they nerfed my altimeter. It's 192ft off! I calibrated 4 times on my climb. Please see pic. The actual elevation is 13,822ft. This is a new issue...
UPDATE 6/15/17 - The sapphire face is bombproof, but the metal around it scratches way too easy!
UPDATE 8/12/17 - The altimeter is consistently off... DON'T BUY IF YOU WANT ACCURACY!
UPDATE 8/27/17 - Watch connects and disconnects randomly with PC. Read the reviews with the same issue
UPDATE 8/19/18 - Battery Life is now insanely poor running a course and usual functions. Started the day at 98% and ended half-day at 6%. Seriously? The new update has definitely compromised battery life.
2 more runs and a hike and I'm now at 52%. Love the battery life.
Well, my last watch was a pebble steel. This is truly the closest comparison. I've been through several, most recently the fitbit ionic (which I returned after a week).
Here are the priorities:
1. Always On. Sorry apple watch people and ionics, etc... If I've got a kid on one hip and a bag of groceries in the other, I don't want to be doing some weird flex/gyrate to get my hand in the right position to see the time. I want to glance down at my wrist that's already facing me and see the time. You'd think this isn't a big deal, but next time you look at your watch, bring it up level, close your eyes then roll it towards yourself and open your eyes when it's facing you. It's a slight pause but that's what you get with a watch that isn't LCD. Sure, it's pretty when it's on, but seriously? I want the time or the text, period.
2. Sunlight. The Fenix/Pebble use a color LCD screen. In the sun it's even more bright and crisp. At night, it's dark, but it has a back light, just like the apple watch or fitbit ionic does, where you have to roll it towards yourself, or pick it up just right (except it's much more adjustable). Like most people, however, I don't hang out in the dark all day. When I'm out and about, I want to see the time/texts
3. Readability. The Fenix/Pebble let you read the entire text or email. I don't know why, but the ionic didn't let me see anything but the date, part of the subject and who it was from. The fenix lets you see that and then read the rest if you want. (like the pebble).
4. Connectability. The Fenix/Pebble both maintain a solid connection. With the ionic, I had terrible trouble keeping it connected. I had several others that were even worse, but cost less than $100, so I can't compare.
5. Interface. The Fenix/Pebble are button nav. This is a 2 way street, but think carefully about your life here. I happen to swim, meaning my hands are wet and that isn't good for touch screens. I go to cold places where I have gloves on, and that isn't good for touch screens. It took some getting used to, but after a week or so, I could navigate around the Fenix even faster than the pebble. It's very snappy and you can reach various items from more than one direction. Pretty cool.
6. App Store. Both the Fenix and Pebble have custom apps made by both Garmin and independent programmers. It's not nearly as large a selection of programmers, but I think it's coming up. Ionic actually uses a javascript/typescript base for it's app, so my guess is that their app-store will grow quite faster, but I think the hardware itself has some problems that a software fix isn't going to help.
The Fenix has a bunch of cool gadgets that I'll never use, but it's cool to have them. If you bike or hike or do things where you need to track your GPS location and altitude and heartbeat.... the Fenix does it all. For me.... meh.
Oh.... and just a note again about the #1 issue of "always on". Look at the pics I have posted. It's me at work with my hand on a keyboard. If I'm coding away like the geek I am, and I get an email, I want to glace at my wrist and see if that's something I can ignore and just move on without even stopping typing. If you're a coder, you know exactly how debilitating it is to take your hands off your keyboard to check something or even switch over from whatever app you're coding in to your email..... even if it's just a few keystrokes.... you lose your flow.

1) Pulsar Up/Menú
2) Pulsar Down hasta opción "Configuración"

For my purposes - daily activity tracking, cycling and walking - the sensor suite is fine and consistent meaning I get good insight into changes in my health / performance, which was what I was after.
For the 90% of my life that I'm not cycling/walking/otherwise exercising, this watch is absolutely *superb*. The watch face is large, clear and easy to read (because it's always-on), the gesture for backlight is (mostly) OK, the "smartwatch" features do a great basic job (All I really wanted was notifications on my wrist, and I get those just fine. Calendar, weather, music control etc I view as bonuses). And we must not forget the absolutely fantastic battery life: In "Smartwatch" mode I've had it last well over the advertised 2 weeks (bearing in mind I'm still getting step, heart-rate and sleep tracking in this mode).
It's a pricey piece of kit, but it looks good on your wrist and it'll track just about any activity you can think of while performing as a useful adjunct to your phone. And you don't even need to take it off when you shower.

One thing though, the bezel marks super easy which can spoil the look ofthe watch, I bought a soft silicon case and a glass protector for the watch all of which works fine and keeps the watch scratch free, but hey it is a watch to be used in activities, so "battle damage" is going to be pretty much a given.
All in all if you are looking for a great piece of wearable tech this is one to consider, I would but again no question.
