When I discovered the Edge 800 I'd purchased in May of 2011 was able to accept a map card I was hesitant to spend the money. The device in and of itself is quite amazing, however I was recently able to actually see the difference in mapping and navigation abilities with and without the installed map card. Wow! Quite amazing. I usually ride road and rarely do I ride where I don't know where I am. However, once the card was installed the mapping became much more interactive and added a bit of fun to the end of a long, LONG ride!! Best part....$$$$!!! Garmin sells this map card on their site and it would be sent to my door for nearly $93 after tax & shipping. Not worth it to me. This card, however, was MUCH more reasonable; even better if you're a PRIME member!!!! The instructions, although simple, aren't needed. Simply pop the micro SD card in and go!! The device does the work. In the simplest terms, if you wanna do a bit of mapping/navigation/course making upgrade to your Edge, go for it!! I mean, really....you've already made a substantial investment in the unit, why not spend a couple $$s and have some fun!! I can't wait to get this on the Mountain bike in the local foothills....that should be interesting!!!! Next task: Motorcyle trip with the Edge 800!!!!

This card worked great for me. Dropped it into my Oregon 450t and I can now use it for road navigation to get to the trail head as well as on the trail.

For navigation it works as expected. But I found myself unexpectedly low on gas and I used the 'find gas stations' function to find the closest gas station and it didn't find the gas station a mile directly down the road. In addition, I had hoped to install this into the memory of my Montana GPS so I could have both the roads and the high detailed 24K hiking maps installed together in my GPS. I called Garmin and found out the only way I can have both map programs available is to purchase and download them from the Garmin website or purchase them on DVD. Then I can write both map programs to a micro SD card and install that into my GPS.

The Garmin GPS continues to give the needed service - get us where we want to go. These updates are invaluable for the purpose, as we live in Mexico, and directions people give are usually of the, "turn left at the red mailbox" variety.

My first Garmin street maps. Like others I've owned, they're not perfect. The roads are fairly up-to-date but some are not (even some that were changed 30 years ago!!!). No updates for these maps are available from Garmin to my knowledge. The navigation functions pretty well, although sometimes it routes me on bad roads that are not faster or shorter. I like that I can build my routes for road cycling on Basecamp and then transfer to my GPS. I have to double check the routing on my GPS because sometimes the GPS will change the route. I wish it wouldn't do that!!! I can manipulate the route to go the way I planned by adding waypoints, forcing the navigation to go that way. This is only a minor annoyance, but is can be frustrating. This glitch probably isn't the fault of the map card, but more likely the GPS unit (or Basecamp). Too bad all Garmin products weren't designed to sync.

Over all I'm am pretty satisfied. I only wish the maps could be updated. Oh well...

Who doesn't need updated maps? updated from a 2007 map base and a huge difference. Pretty simple update, but you do need to go to garmin first and get the base software update. Pretty simple update process

i only gave it 4 stars because it isn't ALWAYS correct. i think it may be the garmin edge 800 that i am using, but there seems to be a little disconnect between the map and my actual location. However, i had tried this card in my friend's device and it has worked great. i think that the product is top notch, but tough to tell without the right equipment

Seller shows it as being genuine, but my one came on an unlabeled San Disk mini-SD card ... I suspect it is not genuine, but it does work.
